This just came up in a game the other day. The hell hound stats in the 5th Edition Rulebook are different then in the Current IG Codex. In fact it has weaker armour and costs the same.

PG 63 IG Codex

front side rear BS
Hellhound: 13 12 10 3

PG 292 5th ed rulebook

front side rear BS
Hellhound: 12 12 10 3

Is this a misprint or error? also which book would one use for the stats? Because my opponent argued that since its the main rulebook and the newest print it supercedes my IG Codex.

Help!

Uh, look at the Hellhound's entry instead of the summary page in the codex.

'It is a source of constant consternation that my opponents
cannot correlate their innate inferiority with their inevitable
defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'

It was also confirmed which one it was in the FAQ when 5th Ed. was released.

It was in the 4th edition FAQ as well. The summary in Codex Imperial Guard is wrong. The summary in the main rulebook agrees with the actual army list entry for the Hellhound. Regardless, page 289 of the 5th edition rulebook explicitly tells you what to do when it and a codex disagree.

And always keep in mind that GW can't make correct summaries even at knifepoint. They screw it up every time. So much so that they have repeatedly stated that should a summary differ from an entry or codex, you throw the summary out the window.

The 'fluff' usually does not have stats. The rule of thumb is if the army list entry and the summary are different you go with the army list entry, not the summary.
