I am planning on creating a Mechanized Tau army for an upcoming Rogue Trader game happening here in Utah. My friend left around 2k worth of Tau here when he moved to NC. Not quite sure what I have to work with, but I would like some suggestions on usable lists. The points for the game are 1750, so, yeah, either mechanized or just a Static list would be nice.

Thanks guys.

Can you give us some idea what you have to work with?

If you have 2k worth of stuff and want to play a 1750 game, you're not going to be leaving a lot on the shelf, so an all static or all mech force is unlikely unless the guy you got the minis from had already done one of those builds.

I'd suggest going throught the codex and pointing up each unit you have, then working out what to leave out from there.

While you sleep, they'll be waiting...

Have you thought about the Axis of Evil pension scheme?

Mech Tau consist of tons of Crisis Suits, Devilfishes and Hammerheads. Stealth Teams, Piranhas and also Sniper Drone Teams are common additions.

Also 2nded on what Chimera_Calvin said.

To tell you guys the truth, I'm not entirely sure what all I have. I'll have to get ahold of the figs and go through them.

I was just looking for a common build.

If you want Mech Tau, I'd say go with 3 Hammerheads (with Railguns, preferably) for Heavy Support. Give 'em multi-trackers and they can move 12" and still shoot the Railgun!

Lots of Crisis Suits too, as well as a couple squads of Fire Warriors with Devilfish. I can't make you a list up right now, as I tend to get sidetracked easily, and it would never get finished. But those are my suggestions.

Railguns will shred armor, and can use the submunition shots to destroy troops. Crisis Suits can be customized to take on whatever it is you'll be fighting, and Fire Warriors are just plain awesome. And the Devilfish can be used as fire support or for cover.

Oh, and put Disruption Pods on ALL the vehicles. This is not a suggestion. Either do it, or don't make a mech list. They are 5 points, and are life savers!

Hm, well I can post my old list (don't have the new one ctrl+c, ctrl+v ready). This is my Mech Tau geared a bit towards more lightly armored opponents and mass.
