Had a confusing question come up recently. Imagine a Big Mek with Kustom Force Field granting a vehicle "obscured" status. Now that vehicle also happens to tank shock someone that has a meltagun. The melta trooper (passing LD) decides to try Death or Glory on the ork vehicle. Any opinions on whether the KFF would grant the vehicle a cover save?

The KFF works (the vehicle is obscured) if the death or glory attack is from a ranged weapon. The rules are clear cut here.
Just imagine that the meltagun guy lets loose with his crazy shot and the field stops it.

Yah, while it may seem a bit strange at first, cover saves work against any ranged attack. Funny thing is though, it wouldn't help if the guy being tank shocked had melta bombs.

But is it actually a ranged attack? DoG is a special case thing to begin with and you automatically hit once.

BGB pg. 69:
".....the attack can either be a shot from a weapon carried by the model, or a cloce combat attack...."
Yes it is actually a ranged attack.

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read.
