Building a new list...

I very much look forward to using a steam tank - it looks nice and I always liked heavy warmachine armies - like 2 cannons a mortar here or there and a hellblaster with a line of handguns...

Although I always wanted to throw in a warrior priest - but I always been stuck with engineer for the machines and mages for magic defense and a bsb for LD.

Anyone ever strike a good balance?

Try swapping the Engineer for a priest (and put the priest in with a unit that will benefit from his Hatred; knights are perfect). You'll like it.

The Engineer, as always, is a complete waste of space in the book. He's got some great models and hilarious kit (electric 'brass balls', exploding pigeons, etc.), but he can never make up for the fact that he's sucking up a hero slot. A Warrior Priest, while expensive, works wonders for Empire - magic defense, some bound spells, decent combat stats, and (most importantly!) more Ld help for your army.

and the fact he makes any unit he joins subject to hatred
