Hey all,

I am animation student with a pile a marine sketches I usually never finish. Most of my sketches as potential conversions. I don't know where this stuff belongs on dakkadakka, but I figure I might as well post it. I'll add more as I scan it.

I scribbled this today while watching Gladiator. Not supposed to be him, I just like Roman space marines.

We are the creators we move our hands and a army rises from the dust, we move our brushes and they come to life, i roll my dice and the rest is fate.Link

The hands are done really quite well - The closed up hands came out very well.

The main critique I have is that body parts don't quite align up properly (eg. the head's a bit too sunken into the body, the (our) left hand is a bit too sunken into the wrist - and a hand holding a handle would not be able to close up completely, so it wouldn't make a full "fist"). Try to also provide a better sense of 3-dimensionality (eg. the thigh plates could be drawn with some "thickness"). Have you considered any shading?

I appreciate the replies. For the head, I have a thing for big marine shoulder pads for i might have exaggerated the size of the head to make the pads larger. And it clicked while drawing it that the hand looked off, but for that and the shading I had stopped drawing when the movie finished. I think I'll take it into photoshop and try to do it some justice. Thanks!
