just wanted to get all your opinions, what are the TRUE value of scouts and what are they worth to you in a battle

and a quick question, im going to playing against nids and orks alot, do youse think that scouts equipped with snipers would be good, because of the hit on 2+ wound on 4+, or would a close combate scouts squad work better?

He's right. Also, CC scouts can be effective as they can come on from the sides and are pretty cheap (in DA, 170 points for 10 with Shotguns or CCW/BP and a powerfist).

If you're going to be playing nids and orks- sniper scouts are the way to go. They can wound fexes and bikerbosses more efficently than other units in the army. with rending- this is esspecially good vs. the fexes who have trouble finding cover.

Not sure I agree about the biker bosses. They get a 4+ cover, even on the AP 2 hits and in 5th ed they should be either out of LOS of your snipers or in a bike squad that will also get the cover save.

Excellent against MC's though.

5th ed. snipers have changed to hitting on BS, wounding on 4+, rending and pinning. The GW site is likely not to have been updated.

Oz website hasn't been updated in a very long time. It is prolly talking about 4ed snipers.

Scout snipers with the cameoline cloaks are the same cost as the old BS4 snipers. So you lose accuraccy but gain scout and a +1 on your cover save. The heavy bolter also went up inprice but gained the hellfire round. Makes it a very nice match to the sniper rifles. They are kind of like a slightly more resilient but less killy eldar ranger. They don't impress me but if you face alot of high T stuff then they might be worth it.

I dunno about close combat scouts. They gained the scout rule but lost a point of WS. Really hurts them against WS4 troops cause they get hit more often. I could see some value in multiple 5 man squads in land speeder storms (3 max in a list) but they would have to be used in conjunction with other units.

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."
