Basically I'm starting up a small space marine force and decided to do a more obscure chapter. So I ended up on a variation on the mantis warriors using catachan green with kommando khaki as a secondary colour and scorched brown for trim. Only unfortunate problem is more obscure chapter means no transfers.

I'm using a simplified version of the chapter symbol:

Just the base logo without the circle around it.

The tl;dr version is I don't want to paint that on 40 odd marines. I've heard of making your own transfers in several places but I can't find any mention of what you actually need and where to get it. So maybe someone could help me out?

I've done my own transfers with great success. You have two options:

1) Check out Bolter and Chainsword, in their PCA forum, where they have a transfer listing of a lot of the obscure chapters. They've created the transfer sheets for you. I believe Mantis is one. You can use those for your base, then paint different colors on it.

Option 2:
Go to Micromark.com, where they have transfer making materials. They have a 'sample set' of white and clear transfers, decal sealing sprays (for making the sheets), as well as a great set of setting and softetning solutions. Depending on your printing capability, you have two options:
1. If you have a color laser, get the laser transfer paper, have your 'sheet' printed on it, and you're done.
2. If you're using an inkjet, you need to get the sealer for the transfers. Print them, seal them, let them dry, then use as normal.

If you wanted to use your modified version as above, you can just replicate that picture in Word, Powerpoint, or any paint program to make enough transfers for your force. Test print a couple to make sure the sizes are correct. You can print that on clear transfer paper, because there is no "white" on the symbol. I would remove the black background before doing so, though.

I would also recommend searching this forum for transfer or decal, as there have been several threads about how to apply them as well as make them.

Drop me a pm or ask here is you have any questions.

Much obliged, now I have a much better idea of what to look for and I reckon I can find the stuff from here. Unfortunately most of the sites provided in that thread are US ones so as I'm in the Uk I'll need to find alternative retailers but they shouldn't be too hard to find. As for the logo above, it isn't exactly what I'm using. It'll be that minus the yellow circle and black background so just the mantis symbol. From the looks of things printing white seems to be a problem which might be an issue as for my terminators I'm going to be using a modified version with the black areas being white (or bleached bone) as it'll go better against the green of their shoulders where as on a tactical marine it'd be going over kommando khaki (so would remain black).

Thanks for the help anyway.
