Got involved in a multiple army game, free-for-all battle the other day, and had a question come up. I was playing daemons, and was having some flamers drop in, there was a group of SM fighting some Necron Warriors in CC. I managed to deviate closer to a different squad, so it was a non issue at the time, but if I had landed close to the CC, would I be able to lay the templates down on it, as I wasn't involved in the CC?

There are no rules covering 3-way battles. You would need to figure it out amongst yourselves.

As insaniak said, there are no rules for three-ways (ololol) so you'll have to make your own. I'm gonna suggest that NO, you can't do that. You should be able to charge into said combat, but you shouldn't be able to do any shooting into the combat, as it's pretty cheap, and you're friends won't like you as much.

"Oh, hey, you two are fighting each other? Yeah? Well, here comes fire! Now you're both dead! ...I'm popular?"

"...No."

Actually, there IS a scenario for three player games in the BGB. It's on page 272. Has rules on cc, and shooting.

The idea is that it takes extra effort and time to write properly, and they’d rather save the time. If you can still be understood, what’s the harm? While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

hmmm, good spot there Lordhat, Personally I would still think it's something you would want to discuss before the game, although that gives you a reference.

Just wondering, what are the rules regarding a template weapon hitting a squad in melee normally (obviously you would have to be targetting someone else) I had a poke around and couldn't see anything hard and fast, seems to me like you would ignore the melee and calculate as normal.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

So there is. I remember seeing that when I first got the book, but must have blocked it out...

Drunken, you can't place the template if it hits any CC models

If you have no models involved in a combat, you can land templates on it to your hearts content.

P273: In the shooting phase, a player may fire into an assault that does not include his own units.

It states to roll a dice for each "hit" to determine which members of the melee are hit, but I guess with flame weapons and blasts, this doesn't matter.

As i am looking to play 4 way battles with free for all and am starting an IG armour company using only blast templates and what not, i would like to say that i think you should be allowed to shoot into a combat as long as no one from your team is in there, i'll put a demolisher to any CC's around and watch as everyone disappears

In general, I find that 3 way battles don't work out too well since it generally boils down to 2 people ganging up on one guy and then killing each other off at the end. That or 2 guys go at it while a third sits around watching till one kills off the other and then the watcher goes in and finishes off whoever is left. In either case, not a whole lot of fun. 4 player free for all sounds like a whole lot of time sitting around waiting for other people to finish their turns.
