Heavy Support: Railhead with SMS BSF DP FD MT TL 195 Points

Heavy Support: Skyray with SMS BSF DP FD MT TA 175 Points

First off, I would have really liked to use a railhead in my 3rd spot but didn't have the model available to me. However, hearing how some games might only get 4 turns I figure that if I launch all of my skyray's seeker missiles in the first turn or two I'll be alright, plus networked markerlights that hit on a 3+ is always nice.

Lack of bonding is due to the idea that my fire warriors will be mounted (1st squad mounts up in the pathfinder fish in turn 1) plus Shadowsun should be around.

The kroot with the hounds can infiltrate into cover or flank.

The 17 man kroot squad will sit on an objective in cover for missions 1 & 3 (hope I get a board with forrest on mission 3).

The crisis team converts from an anti transport to anti infantry squad as the game progresses. I've given the squad the positional relay in case I decide to hold as much as possible off table in Mission 2. Plus knowing those outflanking Kroot or stealthsuits have a good chance of showing up in the enemy backfield on turn 2 might enable some fun to be had!

Here is hoping I put up a good fight.

I like everything in this army except for the second HQ. He just seems really really expensive for how effective he'll be. Sure he's real hard to kill but still, I'm not sure what he's going to really do other than annoy the enemy by living.

He can serve two purposes as I see it:

1: Start Killing any TEQ or MEQ that get close enough. He might even assault if the squad is small enough.

2: Attach to a Squad such as the kroot to eat the first 3 wounds with both him and his drones having the 2+ armor saves & even if the commander fails one he has the stim injector.

Would a unit of 3 crisis suits with TL fusion blasters and target locks/target arrays be better? That way I could deep strike them on turn #2 and hopefully kill up to 3 land raiders if they are placed close together.

Take the Kroot from the first squad of 17 and dump them into your other Kroot squads.

Give your pathfinders drones, and attach your commanders to them (with target locks) so you have a very big unit hard to break.

I hope that is helpful.

Any advice is helpful.

I wanted to keep the Kroot Squads with the kroot hounds at a mix where the hounds would have the initive when making a sweeping advance.

I hadn't thought of teaming up the commander with the pathfinders, good idea!

I'm pretty sure the sweeping advance rules only worry about majority that are still alive after combat...

I play with 18 kroot/12 hounds in a squad (which is about exactly what you'll end up with). If you can find a combat where you're losing less than 6 kroot, you don't need to worry about sweeping advances anyway since you just annihilated whatever you were fighting.

You have to DS at least 1" away. Fusion guns have a short 6" anti-LR range and combine that with 2/3 chance shatter and avg scatter of 6". Therefore, I think that is a real BIG "if" even to kill one. More likely next turn LRs score 2 KP. Also, even with fusion guns the average AP roll at 6" away is 14 (a glance). Even if you blow it up, you don't want to be close to what it is transporting. My half a penny, use BS and/or Hammers.

Though if it did work (you killed 3 LR in one turn) I would be dead from hysterical laughter .

But seriously, I once saw a nearly tabled Tau force w/ 2 devil fishes left tank shock 2 units of Necron Warriors. both units failed thier leadership check and went off the board. Phase Out. Cron player hit the ground crying. I hit the ground laughing . So stranger things have happened.

Wyoming- I plan to have a pathfinder devilfish on the table when they would deep strike on turn 2 (thanks to the Positional relay) therefore the chances of landing right where I want them to is 52% or so.

Also, the average AP roll would be 15 (8 base plus 7 average) at 6" away, plus with theAP1 hit I'd only need to roll a 4+ to Destroy it.

All that being said, I think I'll stick with the commander.
