youbedead if you were taking it, would you give them 4+ saves?

Admittedly it would be harder to kill them with 4+ saves however they're not a serious danger to units with transports, and can be dealt with with sacrificial speed bumps.

You're paying 23 points per model, and can only deal with half the armies out there. Not a tournament decision.

wait wait wait wait... huh..?

Well, as long as I can keep my land speeders alive, I should be fine. But yeah, If that doesn't work, my poor space marines are going to die in large numbers, unless I can do something amazing.

Actually the Assault Cannon razor back would do well against them, Razor back spam + genestealler spam? = chaos... yum

I took stealer shock to the LVGT. Outflanking with most of your army isn't all it's cracked up to be - 1/3 of your army ends up on the wrong side of the battlefield, and you have little control over when they enter.

What about bikes? Which, while not such an assault threat, can redeploy quickly if they come on from the wrong side...

Attack bikes would probably be the best SM unit for killing Genestealer flankers, they have good anti infantry, their fast, durable, can be okay in close combat (which, if you tried to do against genestealers, would cause people to laugh at you until you drowned in your own salty tears of shame.... and then thye would laugh at your funeral). they also have two wounds!!! or... at least... they did.... I'm not sure if they still do.
1 squad of 9 heavy bolter shots... time for MATHHAMMER!!

alright so your getting about 4 kills a round, unless their in cover.... maybe you should take a few squads, their relatively cheap as far as points go and they can take out lots of medium infantry, or guys that you really don't want outflanking you.

Personally I'm going to stick to using my speeders as they get about 9.5 kills versus anything with an armor save of 4- and a toughness of 4. The obvious problem about them is that they're fragile anything that shoots them will probably kill them. So in the unlikely event that i can keep them alive, I'll be fine as far as killing stuff is concerned.

And about just tabling your army, how would you capture objectives? I don't mean it as a criticism, I just wan to know.

I didn't mean to combat the Genestealers with bikes, but use bikes as the basis of an alternate army that outflanks (ala white scars/ravenguard).

Sorry for the confusion...

not really bothered by it, got a fairly large ork horde army, so throw 100 or so boyz a it and make em go away.

Nope. You know it's coming, so you don't get in a charge range of the side. When they came on, two full units of em, I turned em into a red cloud with a unit of Destroyers and a unit of Immortals, which both ignored even their upgraded 4+ armor.

surely don't increase the armour and use cover saves, gives you more stealers with 4++ rather than less with 4+, if necesary, use the ones you get by not buying the armour into a cover providing squad.

Ran Stealers in the ard boys...EC saved my but in cc against marines where thanks to wound allocation my rends were seriously nerfed = attacks back in my stealers face. In the event that I did win combat in the initial assault (actaully didn't happen all that often), I wasn't always able to get into cover, and the EC saved me from complete bolter/flamer (not heavy) ruin.

Flanking stealers was all right when objectives were on both sides of the board, otherwise I ran a 1 in 3 chance of them going on the wrong side. In some cases, I could have really used the help of the stealers in the back line right off the bat where my shooty nids were deployed :S.

I played against stealer shock at the LVGT, and it came down to the wire. He had the EC which helped some, but if a few saves hadn't gone his way he was tabled.

The next game he played my buddy's WH army with immolators galore and died quickly.

It is an army that is very scary when you are inexperienced playing against it with certain armies, but once you get to know how to beat it, it isn't that bad.

Some lists just own it.

Its easy to play around. The board is 6 feet in length and they can only come in and assault a max of 18 inches. Just set yourself up to blow them away once they come on.
