I have been reading may battreps lately and for a large amount of the 40k ones it seems like many people are not showing up to tournaments with the new rules set in mind. Having been a great fan of the guard I figured that I would try and make a list that would be competitive in the new setting. As usual and C&C is welcome.

Home Base: Prosper, TX (Dallas)

A few quick things:

-How will this army kill landraiders? I ask because they are now worth their points due to their toughness so your going to see a lot more of them.

-Love the mortars! They can cause a ton of saves a turn.

-Flamer sentinels against MEQ=Dead Sentinels. with the 2 hellhounds you have already i'd probably drop the sponsons on the BT, drop the Demolisher lascannon to a heavy bolter and then find a few more points and upgrade the sentinels to lascannons.

-that or take drop troops and find a way to fit in small units of vets or stormtroopers to land and melta tanks. the new DS rules are pretty forgiving now (as in you don't lose your squad as easily)

AV 14 is your weakness there. Otherwise, a fairly solid list.

AV 14 was a concern for me but I figured that I have 2 choices.

1: Take a great deal of meltaguns and lascannons.
2: Basically give up on shooting at AV 14 vehicles as there wont be too many of them and any units holed up in them wont be doing anything. The monolith is the main AV 14 vehicle I was worried about but when I figured how much firepower I would need to throw at it (especially if it can find some cover) it just wasent worth the attempt.

The way i figure it there is enough firepower in the army to blast just about anything but MBTs (and if I get lucky the russes can handle that for me). I will have a problem with AV 14 but there is only so much a land raider or a monolith can do. Especially if I can manage to find cover for MY troops.
