Hello all I was wondering if adding sister of battle would be a good Idea for my IG army. I ask this question beacuse i seem to keep losing. I noticed that I seem to have no units that can hold up on there own. I heard that a guard player at las vegas won 5 games straight using guard and withhunters. I am only started a couple mouthes ago so that might be the reason. This is what I currently use for guard

I currently have 7 squads of regular guard with heavy weapons, 2 leman russes, one hellhoud, one squad of stormtroopers, one squad of ten veterns, a baslik, 2 juinor officers with flamers and generade lachers, one herioc officer with a melta, medic , master vox and flag bearer and finaly one antitank squad with lascannons.

I have mostly generade lauchers and flamers, but i have 2 meltas and a plama gun. I currently have the following heavy weapons that i give to my guard and jr officers, 2 heavy bolters, 2 autocannons, 2 missle lauchers and one lascannon. My doctriens I use are Sharpshooter,Camlione cloaks and close order drill. My toatly army is currently about 2k points

What i am asking is one should i get witch hunter. Second what should I get if I get witch hunter to start out(I would evently like it as a stand alone army). i would like to see if getting a inquister lord in a landraider is a good idea. If witchhunter are however not such a good Idea could you please tell me how to be mor eeffective with IG.

Any help in this matter I would be extremly thankful

The sisters are up to you, I would say no, for a few reasons, one, they just went up in actual cost, so ten is like 45 bucks or something like that, that sucks...two they have bolters and a 3+ save yes, but they really shine in numbers and with the proper use of faith. A couple of squads may not really be effective enough to keep them trucking along.

There are however a few combos that you should think about. Take an inquisitor lord to fill that second hq slot slap in three gun servitors with heavy bolters, two medics, and two acolytes, the inquisitor and acolytes get a bolter. this squad should be thrown in cover or trucked out to some good cover, then you have a very difficult squad to kill chalk full of heavy bolter goodness, just dont let them get into hand to hand.

Yes I said an inquisitor lord, you will need the elite slots, if you read around about assassins, you may find them to you liking and will probably be a nice asset to give you both a distraction and hand to hand specialist. The easiest to use is probably the eversor, he can infiltrate and charge 12"...so a 6" move, plus 12" charge...theoretically this guy can be in assault in the first turn. He may not look like much but he can lay the pain down with up to 10 power weapon attacks and he explodes if killed. Alone...he will die, but throw in a few death cult assassins, and you have a force of power weapon weilding manacs that can support your eversor on the second turn. If you were to hit your opponent's weak underbelly with these guys, then you they will a- lose that support, b-double back to defend it, or c-both. Now eversors are 95 pts, and death cult assassins are 45 each...so you need to be careful not to take too many...otherwise you may put too much emphasis on your assassins.

Right now the Withc hunters dex is kinda weak in many of its options, the cannoness, the sisters, the seraphim, and the exocist are really the shining jems in it. All of the other stuff in there is dangerous to rely on in battle...many of the units will charge off into thier deaths or attack things they cannot kill.

I hope this helps...if anything look through the dex, and play some friendly games with frineds to see how they work with your army before committing to buying them.

Sisters can be a great idea, depending on how you use them. Never underestimate the power of massed bolter fire. Especially with Divine Guidance. I used to supplement my IG with a squad of DemonHunters Terminators. Wow, was that a good call!

Depending on the meta game you expect to face, a DH Lord Inq. with HB/PC servitors and Mystics can really help against deep strike armies.

One thing to bear in mind when taking assassins is that they suffer somewhat from the new assault rules and the fact they can no longer use their IC status to hide from shooting. They can be fun, but you have to be a lot more careful with them than you needed to before.
