So I'm painting up my new High Elf army, but I'm finding that I'm not too familiar with how to properly paint up skin/human flesh. I'm coming from previously having played/painted Tyranids, so I've not really had much exposure to this process.

Can anyone help out by sharing their process in fleshing out (pun intended ) the skin of their models?

For elves, I use the Reaper Master Series Fair Skin triad. Basecoat with Fair Shadow, wash with GW Ogryn Flesh Wash, then paint the highlights on with Fair Skin and Fair Highlight.

I'll sound like a broken record here, but Reaper Master Series Tanned Skin triad. They also have a few others (olive skin, etc)

Groz is right on with this one... the Master series skin tone triads are perfect for all kinds of fleshiness. I do mine almost exactly the same way. Eldar love the Rosy Skin/Rosy Highlight over Golden Shadow with a highly diluted Flesh Wash!

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

Again, the Reaper Master Series has the answer. There's a dead flesh trio perfect for undead or unnatural skin tones

For me personally. I use vallejo mostly:

Black under coat.
Vallejo: Dwarf Flesh
Paint eyes white
Paint in pupils black
HIghlight with Vallejo: elf flesh.
Citadel Wash: Ogryn Flesh.

Comes out fantastic.

For fleshtones it's all about expiramentation.

I never go into a model with a set flesh formula. It's always a different method, or a different set of colors, or a different techique.

The natural variation you get is well worth the effort. It might not be for mass armies, but for armies where you have little flesh exposed, like marines, it's a good practice.
