For those who have had the opportunity to thoroughly read, or already possess, the new SM Codex:

QUESTION: Is a SM Apothecary privileged to purchase any and/or all the upgrades available within the Command Squad section of the new SM Codex?

OPTION A. Yes, though not defined as a Veteran, he is privileged to the same upgrades (such as weapons/items/champion-ship) including a bike.

OPTION B. No, while similar to a Veteran, he is clearly defined as a separate model and not privileged to the same upgrades (such as weapons/items/champion-ship) except a bike.

OPTION C. Something else entirely: reply exactly what it is below.

Apothecary has a seperate statline.

Unit composition is:
4 Veterans
1 Apothecary

All unit and model options refer to Veterans, with the exeption of the bike.

I vote B (No).

My brain told me that apothecary is a veteran.

But it is not written in the rulebook.

So,I choose option B.

There is an issue like this in the Dark Angels codex.

In the scout entry it says that each scout can replace his weapon with a sniper rifle for w/e points.
Now a scout squad consists of 4 scouts and 1 sergeant. Now according to this he would still be stuck with a bolter or pistol/ccw.

However this has been clarified by GW that he is allowed the same issue as a scout even though he is named differently.

I would have to guess that this is the same type of issue and therefore the apothecary is treated like a veteran even though he is named different/different statline/ gear.

Yes,you are right,when

GW has already released the FAQ of 5th SM codex.

Before this,no.....

Fault of poor writting."One nob can be upgrade to a painboy"looks much more better.

I can see that being the solution but right now I am enforcing Option B. A FAQ for the new dex won't be out until atleast the book is out. They should really let gamers beta this stuff for errors.

I feel as though the answer should be A, but RAW I think it's B at the moment, and I will choose to play it that way unless GW FAQ it. While it seems logical that an apothecary who clearly has a veteran statline (2 attacks notably) would be just as veteran as the others there is absolutely no rule support for it that I can see.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).
