Subject: Space wolves- feel no pain, and the old effect?
|
 |
Storm Trooper with Maglight

The Fang of Morkai has the same effect as a reductor. Healing Blams and Potions act as Narthecium. Now, a Narthecium/reductor in the 5th ed. Space Marine codex now gives feel no pain. So what the hell do Wolves get now? The Healing Balms have their own entry and rule description in the Wolf Dex. The Fang of Morkai says "refer to codex space marines"
Two things could happen-
The wolf codex AND the marine codex both function, to give feel no pain, and ignore the first failed armour save.
or
The wolf codex could stand alone and allow only a failed armour save, and forget about the reductor completly....
any comments?
opinions?

Is this something that others have noticed? How would you play the game in this situation, and what exactly is the RAW for this?

In the 5th edition space marine codex there is no such thing as a reductor, it is never mentioned at any point, they only use the name Narthecium to describe the device which allows an apothecary to grant Feel No Pain.
As you say, the Space Wolves codex gives it's own rules for the Healing Balms and Potions, and for the Fang of Morkai they refer to codex: Space marine's reductor entry. Since the reductor doesn't exist you use the Healing Balms as per their entry and the Fang of Morkai has no effect.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

There is no reductor anymore. Just the Narthecium. Space Wolves are very high priority for a Codex, either published or in White Dwarf. Everything will be ironed out then, though not necessarily to anyone satisfaction.
Overall I prefer the new Painboy/Apothecary rules, and suspect they will now follow on for IG Medics and any other type of medic that might come along in the future. But here I guess.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
