Okay, this is the first list I've made out of my assault-based army, slaughtered by the new codex. I stuck the whirlwind in there to fill points... Overall, I like the free sniper rifles (nerfed for BS though), the slightly cheaper assault squads (used to pay for veteran sergeants...), and I love the 40 pt razorback with heavy bolters and smoke launchers! I used to pay 73 for that... Feel no pain on command squad is nice with the Iron Halo tossed in. It's all Combat Squaddable if needs be. Haven't played thiese guys yet... SPACE MARINE CAPTAIN Power Fist, Boltpistol, Iron Halo, Grenades attached COMMAND SQUAD - 4 VETERANS + APOTHECARY Boltpistol+CCW, Company Champion, 2x Power Weapons RAZORBACK - Linked Heavy Bolters, Smoke, Searchlight CHAPLAIN Jump Pack, Rosarius, Crozius Arcanum, Grenades, Bolt Pistol, Meltabombs attached ASSAULT SQUAD - 9 MARINES + SERGEANT Boltpistol+CCW, Grenades, Jump Packs, Capt. Power Fist ASSAULT SQUAD - 9 MARINES + SERGEANT Boltpistol+CCW, Grenades, Rhino, Capt. Power Weapon, Combat Shield ASSAULT SQUAD - 9 MARINES + SERGEANT Boltpistol+CCW, Grenades, Rhino, Capt. Power Weapon, Combat Shield TACTICAL SQUAD - 9 MARINES + SERGEANT Bolters, Boltpistols, Grenades, Plasmagun, Capt. Storm Bolter SCOUT SQUAD - 9 SCOUTS + SERGEANT Bolters, Boltpistols, Grenades, 4x Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher VINDICATOR - Demolisher Cannon, Storm Bolter, Smoke Launcher, Searchlight PREDATOR - Smoke, Linked Lascannon and Sponson Hvy. Bolters WHIRLWIND - Whirlwind Launcher, Smoke, Searchlight 1750 Edit - Removed all point values. Please don't release any point values, even unit totals, until the new Codex is out. - Iorek

Having only one razorback and no other av11 targets is a really, really, really, really bad idea. Especially when they contain an expensive HQ.
There is almost no anti tank in the list.
Tactical squad needs a heavy weapon of some sort. It is free, after all. Why bother with the storm bolter?
I think this army needs Shrike. Or better yet use the Blood Angels codex so those 30 jump packs are troops.

Read the list again.
The lack of certain things is mostly based on the models I have. I can get a missile launcher or lascannon into the tac squad. The whirlwind just filled out the 60+6 thing...
Oh, and everyone needs Shrike. Heh. First list.

I reread the list. I don't think I missed anything the first go around.
A whirlwind is a fine choice. By 1 AV11 target I meant the Razorback, since the whirlwind will probably be hiding in the back somewhere.
I'm saying adding Shrike (1 model) would help out a lot. So would using the BA codex, with pretty much the same models.

So you missed the two Rhinos? Okay, they're not that obvious on the list, but it's not like they're hidden once deployed.

Sorry. I'm slowed. I just saw the pts cost for the assault squad. Forgot you could replace jump packs for rhinos.

Remember the command squad isnt a retinue so that powerfist captain can be picked out and punked. I think finding 5 points for a pair of lightning claws is a better option. Power fists on chars is usually not a good idea unless you can hide them in a retinue.
Arent combat shields 6+ invulnerable saves? Not worth the points on a 1 wound model anyway.
I'd definately take at least a missile launcher in the tac squad, its free so might as well. I dont see the point of the storm bolter either. If the squad is rapid firing the sarge can use a bolter. If they are using their pistols then is it worth 10 points for 1 extra bolt shot. I dont think so.
Why the predator layout? I find the autocannon with sponson lascannons a better bet for 10 less points. Makes it better at killing light vehicles. You have plenty of anti-infantry in the assault squads.

Predator layout was for back when S5 weapons were defensive. Combat shields I overlooked. Only just got this codex...
I originally had the powerfist in the command squad and the captain just with power sword or lightning claw... might go back to that. Same points. I have lightning claw and power weapon models available.
Storm bolter dude is just my current Sergeant model for that squad. In my 4th ed Veteran Sergeant based army he put more shoot into a bolter squad with another Storm Bolter captain... for shootiness obviously. And the camping captain leadership trick.
Next step: Optimise this list for 5th ed.

Maybe you should delete the points values.
Posting them is a big no no.

Well, 60 Marines and 6 tanks are not really scary at the 1750 pts level. Unless Assault Marines are scoring units (play BA), the list is a too low on troops.

I used to use the divergent trait for the foot assault squads, so troops never used to be a problem. Then, troops never used to be exclusively scoring.
Like I said, 5th ed has hurt my current model selection. I've always been considering the shrike path - Blood angels can be effective, but I've sworn never to go down THAT path.

If this is all that you have as far as models go, then I would remove the post and build up your selection first. I am not trying to be ebil just letting you know that the list is not really ready for 5th ed.
Assault troops need flamers imop,
You hq is way to top heavy and needs to be gutted.
Best of luck.
I have not really had a chance to read over the SM codex so I am not going to say what you should take.

Well, divergent traits seem to be gone for good in the new edition.
It honors you when you don't consider BA, but BA also got nerfed by their new codex.

Cheers Tarval. I have quite a few flamers at my disposal - that's also the direction my Eldar list seems to be going. I have bikes and devastators...
And yes, two HQs is a bit much for this. The command chud is because Feel No Pain does too much good for my plaguemarine opponents... and these are cheaper than 4th ed veterans. But I still haven't played my 5th ed marines, and I'd like to see how the new marine rules go under the new core rules for myself.
I have another ten choppy foot marines, but they won't go so easily into this list anymore. They also can't carry meltaguns because they aren't re-equipped tac squads... I knew they would kill divergence as soon as I heard a new codex was coming out. Sigh.
My dreadnought feels too slow with the way this list usually runs, but he does have extra armour and a multi-melta so I could also see how the ironclad goes for a bit... Move Through Cover? Nice.
It's my birthday today so I'll revise the list properly later. I'm off down to the flgs because I got paid today as well... but I'm more likely to be picking up Eldar or Skaven...
BTW, anyone tied out the new Legion Of The Damned entry?
