With the advent of the new Land Raider as well as the D. Possessed Chaos Land Raiders, I have decided that Land Raider spam is now quite viable for tournaments, especially with cheapo Troops choices embarked inside.
What would be the best way to spam Land Raiders for 1750 pts in the current 5th ed. environment?

Welcome to DakkaDakka!
Well, have a look at Stelek's list for Ard Boyz tournament. He took a DH army with 7 LRs in 2500 pts.
For 1750 pts, you could take 3 LRs as HS plus 1 LR for Termies. I wouldn't go over 4 LRs in total.

Dark Angels could do 3 LR + 1 inqusitorial land raider + Sammael.
Grey Knight LRs are the best until the new marine codex comes out.
I think 4 LR Redeemers could spell doom for most footslogging armies.

Black templar crusader squads can take LRC's as dedicated transports. Thats potentially alot of land raiders.

at 1750 you can run 6 land raiders with daemon hunters. 3 heavy support, 3 elite inquisitor with min ret, 2 squads of 5 stormtroopers with no upgrades. Now i don't think thats actually good per say, dropping one of them so you can take something actually good to ride in them would be better.

That's too much game-wise since you need scoring units. I'd go for at least three troop units. Inquisitors should have Mystics for shooting units that may come very close.

With Land Raiders, you don't really "need" good scoring units, wuestenfux.
The LR will carry the ball for you, yes?

Sure I understand.
Two scoring units are enough if the LRs carrying the troops are not the first the enemy can target (possibly with meltas).
This shouldn't be a problem with 6 LRs around.
Man, how I dislike this kind of army.

What do you all think the chances of a Seer Council against such a list might be?
I'm also wondering whether significant numbers of single spearlocks in Siam-Hann bike units would help. Hmmm.

I have a friend who has a 5 Land Raider =I= army at 1500pts, its the only way to get so many Land Raiders in so small a list. Three heavy support, two for cheap I commands. The troops are two minimum storm trooper squads.
It has about a 50/50 success rate, mainly because once you have paid for so many heavy tanks there is no room for anything else.

A Seer Council once in-between the Landraiders can do serious damage.
With too many Landraiders the army is too mono-dimensional. Crusaders and Redeemers are necessary to decimate troops.

Thanks for the replies guys!
Yeah I was thinking of using el cheapo troops choices and bunging them into Land Raiders, looks like =I= is the best way to spam the LRs.
But my fears are:
1. Meltaguns (so primarily Sisters and Drop troop IG)
2. Seer councils with WitchBlades or Singing Spears (thanks to ideas from Wuestenfex and Co,)
3. Eldar Bright Lances
How did you combat this Stelek with your list?

Remember Stelek has about 750pts of other stuff to fill his Land Raiders which makes for some nasty contents. If you want the Daemonhunter minimum =I= with 5 Land Raider army you will have problems, it is a fun gimic list, it never winds completely or loses utterly but it can definately lose.
In a standard 1500-2k point game the three LR's you can take as heavy support are enough. You get a better variety too than Daemonhunters do.
You could extend that by taking some Land Raiders with terminators, but terminators are an expense you cannot afford in this type of army. Better than this is a Land Raider Prometheus command squad. You get all the Command squad goodless and what is probably the nastiest Land Raider option going, possibly excepting the Helios.
Sadly neither the Prometheus or Helios is tournament ready. For that matter neither is the Terminus, but they are a sick joke anyway. assuming you are allowed I would consider
Prometheus 270pts
Helios ?260pts?
Helios ?260pts?
Redeemer 250pts
Four should be enough. This costs 1049pts without upgrades. This gives you room for a Captain, Command squad and two minimum tactical squads in 1500pts with 80pts left over to tool up the command squad, the captain and the two sergeants.
For 1750 I would recommend:
Captain with power sword 115pts
Command squad with company champion, meltagun and fist veteran 165pts
Land Raider Prometheus 270pts
Tactical squad with fist sgt 115pts
Land Raider Helios 260pts
Tactical squad with fist sgt 115pts
Land Raider Helios 260pts
Terminator Assault squad (to order) 200pts
Land Raider Redeemer 250pts
There are not enough points for a fifth Land Raider without squeezing points on the infantry to make them useless placeholders, without some tooling up the marines you do take are just a waste of points. Here they are actually dangerous, each squad has the capability to jump out of a Land Raider and do something unpleasant up close, this also adds to the threat value of each Land Raider.
However its the tanks that are key. In case you dont know what they do: The Land Raider Prometheus allows you to reroll one reserve roll, a gimic, its main difference is that it swaps out its armament for four twin linked heavy bolters in two sponsons. This is nasty because it always gets to fire all its guns if it moves 6" and has a definate target role unlike most other Land Raiders, it also has a pintel storm bolter included in the price. So thats fourteen anti infantry shots, twelves of those S5 and twin linked. No it cannot have psycannon bolts.
The Helios, a personal favourite, is the Razorback of Land Raiders. It has only a 6 passanger capacity, just enough for a minimum squad with fist sergeant, it also has no heavy bolters, instead and for only 10pts more you get a Whirlwind lanucher. If you have a Whirlwind notice that the turret has two turret rings. The large turret ring fits on a Razorback chassis, the smaller inner ring is designed to fit on a Land Raider cupola. So not only do you have the lascannon sponsons of a standard Land Raider but you also get to fire a Whirlwind barrage too, or at least instead. Really if you want a Land Raider army you need Helios, they are just too good to be true. Sadly they count as 'Forgeworld' and are not always acceptable in games.
If your games group whines about your Land Raiders just take standard LR's instead and play about with the 40pts extra it gives you. This is one of the nice things about a Helios, as the turrets are intercahangable, so a Helios and a Razorback are the same two models as a Whirlwind and a standard Land Raider. All you need to do is make up a detachable plate to fit over the heavy bolter mount on the Land Raider. Full optimisation and no Forgeworld pricetags.
Have fun now fellow treadhead.

I still think Black Templars just do the LR spam better. Sure, no access to the redeemer, but I think that's negligible as the majority of their Land Raiders are taken as transports. This was the list I was toying around with for 1750
Emperor's Champion, Accept Any Challenge
2x 5 Man Bolters and Las/Plas in Crusader
6 Man Bolters and Plas/Plas in Crusader
5 Terminators, 2 AC
Land Raider
1749 Points
Pretty straight forward list, but it can lay out a lot of fire and the 4 Land Raiders will sway games with Room for more in higher point games.

Yes, I feel BT do it best. You can really spam the Av14 with them, and nearly nullify eldar AT against the LRC's. And, as troop choice transports, who else can do that now? 4 LRC spam with 5 man squads can do a world of hurt.

For a massed Land Raider list Helios > any other Land Raider. But BT could take them (or not in tournament) just as much as every other chapter.

Currently my BT landraider spam list looks like this:
8 Man Command Squad w/ Apothecary, Vet. Sgt. with PF, Flamer, Marshall with Bionics, Artificer, LC's, Furious Charge mounted in LRC with smoke.
10 man crusader squad with bolters, PF, Flamer
10 man crusader squad with BP, CCWs, 3 out of 10 are Neophytes mounted in LRC w/ smoke
5 man drop pod squad with bolters, meltagun
Landraider with smoke (the 10 man squad with bolters rides in this)
List total: 1749pts.
This list hasn't lost a game yet and is hella fun to play regardless if it does win or not. I was running this list in the end of 4th when raiders weren't as good...I like LR's and fielded them because I like them. Now in 5th, I get to field the models I like, but they are actually useful and aren't point sinks.
