So...according to the SM codex the Necrons had a Death Star. How cool is that? It got blown up by the Astral Guardians, but still. Go Crons!

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Death Star isn't so special in 40k. The Imperium uses Exterminatus to destroy whole planets, and chaos have huge ship called the Planet Killer. And don't forget the Eldar Black Stonefortes, the combined power of all those ships can destroy a sun. Ow! And 'nids EAT planets....

But...it was an angry planet! It destroyed other planets, and pwned the Imperium's fleets for a while. Nobody else has anything that big.

All 12 Blackstones put together, size would have been immaterial...quite literally.

Step 1: Build Superweapon

Step 2: Put everybody important on Superweapon

Step 3: Superweapon gets blown up by 5 guys with a transport ship and some epic dice rolling.

Step 4: Get miffed at said epic dice rolling and rebuild said superweapon

Step 5: Put more important people on superweapon still being built and try to convert leader to chaos

Step 6: Superweapon gets blown up by 5 guys with a transport ship and some epic dice rolling ... ... again

Hmmmm, is it me or have I seen this before somewhere (taps chin thoughtfully)

Yeah, something like that might make a good movie.

A movie you say? hmmm (rubs chin)

Nah, would never work, unless you could get together someone with family issues, a cocky SOB, an arrogant SOB, a loveable furry creature of somekind, an irritating awkward mechanical being and a cute comical little thing to add humour. Maybe a few halucinations of a former friend could work?

Personally I can't see it working, and would flop hugely at the cinema when release "lmao"

Maybe a low budget film would work
"Now witness the power of this armed and fully operational, Death ... errr ... astroid?!"

Back to the OP, it would be fun to see some rules for a clash of the titans, but that would be more of a Battlefleet gothic thing.

You could possibly make 40K missions around an army fighting inside one the "Death Stars" trying to take out key installations to disable the star before it reaches their homeworld or other critical location.

Once all missions have been played out you tally up to see how many key installations(cp points) have been destroyed (determined by who wins each mission) if you earn so many points then the campain is considered to be a success.
Engine room = 3cp won , Supply Depot = 2cp won, etc etc.
15cp needed to disable/halt death star
