Since the tank shock move replaces normal movement, does that mean a tank doesn't need to tank a dangerous terrain test if tank shocking through terrain?

You would need to declare tank shock, then how far you are moving.

You then begin the move. Any Infantry you hit before you reach terrain is Tank Shocked, then you test once for Dangerous Terrain when you reach it(the terrain), then continue moving and Tank Shock any Infantry you had reached within the terrain.

What if it's a skimmer tank?

Skimmers ignore terrain as they move but must take a dangerous terrain test if they end their move over difficult or dangerous terrain. There's no reason the same principles wouldn't apply during a tank shock.

The only wrinkle, of course, being that a tank shocking vehicle must move in a straight line, and skimmers moving over terrain or other models must alter their vertical path to do so (depending on the size of the intervening terrain/vehicle, of course).

So in the end we're left with a bit of a grey area but I do think that overall the rules support skimmers being able to fly over intervening terrain when tank shocking.

You make it sound like skimmers can move over other units to tank shock another unit behind them.

It really comes down to personal interpretation.

We had this out a while back, but essentially, the Tank Shock rules say that the vehicle has to move in a straight line. Since Skimmers now move 'over' obstacles, rather than 'ignoring' them, a strict reading stops them from tank shocking over anything that would require them to change altitude, as doing so means they are not moving in a straight line.

But that would also stop normal vehicles from tank shocking over any terrain that isn't dead flat... so probably isn't what was intended.
