Sounds interesting, but unimpressed with the video as they don't really tell you what it's doing to get rid of the target. The whole thing makes me think of the Degree commercials.

Well they do mention its a hard kill system so I'm going to have to assume that it launches counter projectiles of some sort...probably claymore style at short range. For most missile and other explosvie projectiles, that would probably trigger their detination. Seems like a good system if it really does work as good as they claim (and nothing ever does).

Can people walK through it?
Can several "Trophies" overlap themselves?
How about objects which are thrown?

Besides that...neat.

I would assume that the computer targeting that controls the system only picks up objects of a certain velocity. So grenades and similar thrown objects will probably make it though as would walking or anyting else like that.

i would feel sorry for any people on foot nearby, that fragmentation would be a serious issue for nearby soldiers

If it's detonating fixed explosives, it would have much the same problem that explosive ablative armor does: repeat hits on the same location or repeat response to, say, falsified first attacks once the "hardkill system" (probably explosives) resources have already been expended that cover that area.

I'm also highly skeptical about the tracking/response capability. Predicting trajectory on the move and then firing the correct explosive to counter the threat would be difficult- note that the vehicle stopped when demonstrating response "on the move" in the video.

And as Lord Bingo points out, your supporting infantry are gonna get shredded. Unless, of course, those infantry are wearing tons of armor on those walking frames that DARPA recently unveiled...

The resemblance to void shields is only in the graphic used in their demo video.

BTW, have you guys ever seen the antimissile chainguns that they put on aircraft carriers? Now THAT's a "hardkill system" that'll work.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
