First pic is me holding the camera the best I can (no tripod yet)

The last 3 are with the camera sitting on the desk at mini level.

This is one of the first models that I've actually used a number of the advanced techniques I've been learning and applied them all at once.

Things not done yet
- Decals on the marines
- Couple decals on the bike
- Black not completely touched up
- Black is not highlighted at all yet

One thing I should point out is that the exhaust does have a rusty/burnt look (washed with the brown washes). It's coming out kinda dark in the pics though, so looks black. Ignore that

Opinions I would love to hear
Enough highlighting on the red?
Shading good?
Is the decal on the wheelguard too distracting?
Is the decal on the wheelguard, since it's circular, look weird there?
How's the photography?

Lastly, if you can point out anything you think is missing, please do so.

I think overall it looks pretty good, couple suggestions...

I feel there needs to be a little more shading on the chest eagle, you are getting a little from its natural sculpt, but a little more would make it feel less flat.

Also, from the pic its hard to tell if you've done anything wit the headlight, that could be done a little more.

The "accordion" bits between armor plates need a little something, a different color than the armor.

On the other hand, the decal looks fine, your yellows are really good(what did you use for it?), and the highlighting on the red is very neat and well done.

Awesome job overall, take or leave the suggestions as you will, I am well aware that everyone's tastes are different.

I would say your work on new techniques has not been in vain!

Grate work mate! So nice to see some Blood Angels.
You managed where i seem to fail a bit, i cant really keep my highlighting that sharp and thin...

Earlier i was thinking of starting a post where people could post pics of their Angels but that have to wait i think...
Sorry went a bit of topic there... But i seriously like your models

Thanks Jedi Raptor for the reply.

The headlight is done in green, with 4 stages of highlighting, and a white dot in the upper left. Is the 3rd pic not showing it enough? I'll try to get better pics if thats the case. The photography thing is still something I'm learning.

The yellow is probably the simplest yellow I've ever done. After trying multiple different ways and suggestions, I like this the most. Basecoat the area you want white. WHITE white. Then yellow ink the white area 3 times, done. Highlight it from there.

The chest eagle (and the heads as well) have a bit of orange in the recesses. It seems to disappear in the pics though. I'll see if I can fix that. How I go about it is use some yellow ink then add a small dot of fiery orange to it, mix it up and apply to the model. If it's not quite orange enough, add another dot. Do you perhaps have any other suggestions though?

The accordion sections...any suggestions? Black with codex gray highlights?

Thanks for the other comments as well!

OnTheEdge: Thanks for the comments! The edging takes me quite awhile still, I'm very new to it. Fiery orange with only one side of the brush dipped into the paint pot lid. Brush off a bit of it onto a tissue. Run it along the raised areas. As the paintbrush loses more and more paint, you can use it to hit the areas that are further from the "main" spot that you're highlighting. Usually takes me 3-4 dips of paint to do any section.

looks cool, the yellow looks like it needs a bit more work, though it could be just the pictures.

Well, i am colorblind, so if the headlight is green....against the red.....no wonder I didn't see it.

The camera doesn't do the eagle justice.

I'm stealing the yellow technique.

And yeah, black/codex seems to be a good neutral break in the armor.

looks really good dude

Hmm, my suggestions (not that I'm an expert by any means...)

- Paint the bolter shells visible on the sides of the bikes TL Bolters the same bold as the ones on the H Bolter
- Try to highlight all the Boltgun Metal bits with Mithril Silver
- Maybe add a small amount of weathering especially on the front and bottom areas, anywhere rocks would get thrown and chip the paint

I don't know why, but I have always had a thing for minimalist paint schemes. However your bolters could use some more color. Maybe paint the ammo cans and barrels different colors other than just black, but they don't look bad.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

Not bad, but they look very flat. They need more punch, this is done but adjusting the levels. Also they a a little "soft" its looks like they just need a bit of Unsharp mask.

Here is one a had a quick play with!

- I like the idea of painting the bolter shells on the TL Bolters and will do that.
- The guns are painted black, then heavy drybrush Chainmail, washed in badab black, then mithril silver on some details. So, most of it is a washed out Boltgun Metal. I'll try to highlight the TL Bolters a bit when I do the shells.
- This is a personal thing, but I like the "clean" look. I think weathering looks great, but it's just not for me.

Hopefully when I do the shells it'll help solve that.

Looks good.

I would get into a little mitral silver or boltgun dry brushing on the fender trim and other black metal areas. Maybe take a thin brush and add silver flecks on the red paint of the bike to mimic the look of chipped paint. Also may want to dry brush some mud on the wheels and fenders.
