Finally finished him First bug I made in a few years. I'm gearing up for my club's big apocalypse game I had a WIP post going before but I couldn't find it, so anyway, here he is all done! He's not as tall as I originally planned, but I kind of like how the pose came out, imagining some poor guy standing right in front of him, about to get gobbled up Also, since he's not so tall, he just barely fits into a 4" army transport tray

Really like it, but would its tail be enough to support that huge head thing?

Didn't you learn anything from that guy in church? Captain Whatshisname?

It's 40K. A puny imperial guardsman can be just as big as an 7 foot tall super human. Size and scale don't matter, just looks

Inspiring work as usual, Necros. The tail could be composed of hyper efficient, supercoiled tyranid musculature cabled around a impact resistant notochord, if you wanted to come up with some neat fluff justification of proportion. It also helps him burrow

Dakka. You need more of it. No exceptions.

What are you talking about? They're Space Marines, which are heroic. They need to be able to do all the heroic stuff. They fight aliens and don't afraid of anything. -Orkeosarus

I'm not a big fan of Trygon conversions, but I really like this one.
I think it's the pose, tusks and glossy black head.

The only thing I don't like is the base. It's too big.

I understand WHY it's that size. It needs to offset his pose for balance... but it would look better on an appropriately sized "CD" size base. Then, you really COULD pose it over some puny guardsman.

The "Alien" feel is very well done.

I agree with on MM here on the base. That thing does really look huge. Of course, so does the trygon.

Very nice conversion, i really like the feel of this beast. Nicely done.

That's a lovely colour scheme; commendably natural and that gloss is pure evil

Unfortunately I can see rule nazis abusing the base size. I personally like it, and if you play with cool people it shouldn't be an issue.

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

Thanks

I agree the base is big but I felt a CD was too small and also flimsy. So I just used an old movement tray and filled it with spackle and some basing kit bitz.

This guy isn't going to see a lot of games, just my club's apocalypse games and occasional store games, so I don't worry about anyone trying to take advantage of it in a bad way.

Great job overall. I do agree with the basing comments, but I also agree that basing really isn't a huge issue when it comes to games of Apoc. You're more likely to put this piece on display than play it often.

I'd definitely make one myself if I played nids ^_^. Looks like such a straightforward conversion for a great model.

It took about a week to sculpt him just doing a little at a time and letting it harden before moving onto the next part.. Panting took 1 night, it's mostly just drybrushing

hehe yeah I guess it was a rush job. i had planned to have the tail plates going all the way to the end but I got sick of scupting all the time so I cut it short and filed it all down smooth.. then it collected dust on my table for 2 weeks while I finished some other stuff

It's nice, and the execution is great, but the tail is way too thin and some of the plating is missing.
