Hello all,
I really dig burna boys, probably my favorite unit in the ork army. And the other day I thought, what if I put a unit of burnas in a battlewagon with a deff rolla. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you could move the full 12 inches, tankshock for D6 S10 hits, flame the whole unit, and even assault with 3 S4 attacks per model with no armor save allowed, all in the same turn.
I work in a sheet metal shop on a plasma table with a robot controlled cutting torch, so I think I could design and build some pretty cool battlewagons.
So here's a 1750 point army I came up with. Let me know how you think it would do.
Big Mek - kustom force field, grot oiler - 90
10 Burna boyz - 3 Meks w/rokkit launchas - 165
Battlewagon - deff rolla, armor plates - 120

This leaves me with 85 points for vehicle upgrades, I was thinking a few trucks could have stikkbomb launchas, a few could have wreckin' balls, maybe the warbuggies could have wartracks. I haven't played any games yet, so I'm not sure what the best vehicle upgrades would be. Any suggestions? Thoughts on the army in general?

Kaiser's right... You can do what you said but it requires a certain timing. Move 13", tank shock, yes. Deploy out of the Battlewagon, yes. Now you have to pick if you want to fire a whole bunch of flamers or have power weapons when you charge. Not a tough choice really, depending on what you're fighting.
Also, why shoota boyz instead of slugga boyz? You can't Cruise and shoot out of an open-topped vehicle, so you're condemning your Fast Transports to moving 7" if you want to do that, and you're denying your Boyz 4 attacks a head on a charge.
Also, I'd ditch the Warbuggies. Rokkit Launchas aren't particularly useful Anti-vehicle compared to Nobz with Power Klaws. Ditch them and increase the size of the Burna units, you can take 15 of them, do it!

Warbuggies are fine, but rokkit ones kinda disappoint. Big shoota buggies, esp when taken en mass, will kill a decent amount of guys, then they can move fast to contest objectives. They often get ignored too. But they are easy to get KP, so watch out when on that mission.

I was still reading the rulebook PDF that has been floating around the web, so a few of the rules I was reading were not the most current. I picked up the assault on black reach boxed set on Friday, so I'm reading the current rules now. I'll definately use slugga boyz , especially since I just got 20 of them in the box.
Do you think this army would do well? It seems like I could move the wagons ahead 12" turn one, and the trukks 17-18", just enough to keep them insise the kff range to give them a little extra protection and then zip off to engage the enemies and the waggons might get there a turn later to join in.
I was thinking I could replace one of the burna wagons with a wagon full of Slugga boyz instead. Less killy, but it could hold objectives. Or are the five trukks probably enough for that?

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

The Meks need Burnas, 'Eavy Armour and Bosspoles. 'Eavy Armour and Bosspoles, at least. That, and Stikkbombs launchas on the wagons. Maybe on a couple of Trukks, too.
A couple Big Shootas on the wagons goes a long way for "Weapon Destroyed" results. That, and Red Paint Job on everything.
Other than that, cool list. A good way to use Burna Boyz.

If the buggies are disappointing why not throw skorcha's on them instead for even more template death? No way you're gonna miss with skorcha's!
The point on rokkits and shooting from the trukks, perhaps remember the reinforced ram allows you to ram vehicles, and at max speed that's some pretty solid damage you can churn out ina very orky fashion too.
Nice list as a whole, it would be nice to know how some games go with it.

I think the main thing I like about the army is the trukks. Something about flying across the field, dropping off a trukkload of boys to get stuck in, and then zooming away to tankshock and ram untill it gets blown up appeals to me greatly. I'm tempted to drop the battlewagons and make an all trukk army.

I hadn't thought of getting the big mek into the thick of things, I just pictured him hiding in the wagon and keeping the field up. But I suppose once I get there I don't need to worry as much about shooting. He is pretty much an 8 Ld Nob. I can't seem to squeeze the 40 points for a burna for each of them though.

nice! 'Eavy Armour is good on Nobz, too. For when they get targetted while allocating wounds. That, and yeah the Burnas are expensive.

Here's an idea... not sure if it is a good one.
I could drop the burna boyz units to 12 each, give both Big Meks power klaws for crushin' da 'ard stuff. Then give all the Nobs 'eavy armor, and have 15 points left, maybe for stikkbomb chuckas on the last three trukks.
I lose 3 templates or 6 attacks with no save (9 on the charge) and gain 3 strength 8 attacks (4 strength 9 on the charge)
And the unit looses fearless after 2 woulds rather than 5. And I strengthen the truckk units a bit.

you could just use those last 15 points to add another burna boy back to one of those units. Seems like a better idea than stikkbomb chuckas for orks that strike last anyways vs meqs.
