Question for your cumulative understanding in 5th edition.

Specifically How many attacks does a scorpion get

From the stat line, a regular scorpion gets 1 attack and is armed with a scorpion chainsword giving them a +1 S, a shuriken pistol and of course a mandiblaster.

So... 1 base + 1 for two weapons and +1 for mandiblaster and then +1 if they charge so 4 attacks at 4 S

Exarch gets 2 base so 1 more with a scorpion sword and pistol or chainsabers for 5 attacks at 4S
gets 4 attacks with increasing strength for hits with a biting blade.
gets ??? attacks with a scorpions claw... 3? 4? at 6 Strength I would presume.

Karandas I believe is armed with a claw, a chainsword and a super mandiblaster +2 and I believe gets 4 base attacks (maybe 3)

gets 4 base + 2 for super mandiblaster, +1 for the charge with chainsword at 5S plus 1 S8 attack (going last) with the claw
gets 4 base + 1 for charge with claw at 8S and then 3 at S5 with the sword due to the mandiblaster and two melee weapons?
doesn't get to claim the +1 to hand to hand for two weapons at all because he has a claw (power fist)
can take any combination of 7 or 8 attacks he wants?

Or<shudder>... are scorpion chainswords and biting blades considered "special weapons" so you only get the +1 attack for two weapons if you arm an exarch with chainsabres. If that is the case, can you combine the +1 A for the mandiblaster with anything?

I am trying to understand the 5th edition rules with special weapons and the special rules for mandiblasters. What do you guys think?

Yes, but only 3 Attacks with the claw as you cannot gain +1 Attack for having two close combat weapons with a powerfist (which the claw is) unless you have two claws.

4 base attacks.

No. Read the CC rules on page 42 of the rulebook. You choose one special close combat weapon (Powerklaw or Scorpion Chainsword in this case) and all attacks are made with that weapon.

Kandras would have 6 S8 attacks that ignore armor saves at I1 if using the claw (7 on the charge) or 6 S5 attacks at I7 if he uses the Scorpion Chainsword (7 on the charge).

Thanks! Want to do it right.

Also read something interesting and just want to make sure this is also correct...

A unit with scout or infiltrate can do a flank.

An infiltrating unit cannot infiltrate if it has a vehicle.

However in 5 ed I believe it states that an outflanking unit with a dedicated transport can flank so... as an example, you take the 10 scorpions and spend the 20 points to have infiltrate and then put them in a wave serpent, you could still perform the outflank.

Interesting if this is true... you could use scorpions or chaos chosen and give them a dedicated transport. Very useful.
