I'm looking through the 5th ed rules, and not finding anything about it. I think in 4th it said they could but they could be targeted individually. Is this still the case?

The only thing that comes to mind for me is the Tyrant Guard, but they're not exactly infantry, they're a retinue.

Right. The particular thing I am asking about relates to a Monstrous Independent Character, so I guess that resolves that.

Whats still a monstrous IC?

He was certainly an MC in the original codex because the Dawn Sword had a special rule.

Maybe this rule was changed in the Empire codex.

All Chaos Daemons Greater Daemons are MCs, and also ICs; I had to research this rule too, because it looked kind of funny a bloodthirster joining a squad of Bloodletters.

But far as I know you can, never heard any gripes about it.

I can't think of any unit to which this applies. Mausama is incorrect, greater daemons are not ICs. Red_Lives is right about the C'Tan being ICs, but they have the "above all others" rule which forbids them from joining other units.

A Bloodthirster cannot join Bloodletters. You must have the Type: Monstrous Creature as well as the Special Rule: Independent Character in order to be a Monstrous IC. Greater Daemons are JUST Monstrous Creatures.

In this case, JSE is referring to the absolutely _monstrous_ Warboss he's built over in the modeling section, who is big and muscled enough to be an MC, but still a boss.

WoW, You are right I was 100% incorrect. GDs are not ICs.
