I saw now you can fit 12 SM or 6 Terminators in any land raider. Will that mean Chaos will get the extra space as well?

It's actually only the newest codex that gets the latest toys. Unless something changes GW has stated that they don't intend to FAQ a change into any existing books to bring identically named items inline with the latest version. Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Black Templars, and Chaos will have to make due with their inferior versions until GW gives them a new book.

Such is the problem with writing codexes in series rather than in parallel.

Threads should be like skirts: long enough to cover what's important but short enough to keep it interesting.

All those armor spikeys would tend to make it harder to fit more into a LR...

Actually you could fit more, once you impale some of your own troops on them

yeah, they stack together quite nicely.

Please note - terms like 'always/never' are carried with the basic understanding that there are exceptions to the rule, and therefore are used to mean generally...

Which is why I tend to frown upon the backwards compatible editions. I feel that if they're going to overhaul the rules, even slightly, they need to make sure each codex is caught up, not leaving 5-6 books 2 editions behind.

Deathwing have feathers and they probably take up the equivalent cargo capacity.
Spacewolfs like pelts and tooth necklaces, again takes up room.
Templars? Well they like to read each other's quotes on their shoulder pads so obviously can't crowd them in too much.

Finally Blood Angels... do you really WANT to sit that close to a vampire in a dark enclosed space?

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

I think from a fluff standpoint, better, more compact machine spirit casings would explain the whole thing.

Penetrating so many secrets, we cease to believe in the unknowable. But there it sits nevertheless, calmly licking its chops.

That's because the minimum suqad size of CSM terminators is 3,when that of SM is 5....

So both of the LRs could transport one character and his squad.
