Okay, so I'm at this store, and I see this thing:
So apparently this was released on the 15th, but I've never heard anything about it. Admittedly, I haven't been paying attention to GW these days, or Dakka, or even videogames, so I may have missed the discussion; the US election has been so hilarious recently that it's all the entertainment I need. I mean, seriously, it's the sort of election that Hunter S could have written about without hyperbole. During tonight's debate I pretty sure McCain will pledge to conquer the moon or Obama will have necromancers reanimate the corpse of Kennedy or something. And it will only last a day in the news cycle because the very next day we'll have some new Palin scandle in which she is revealed to be a robot or Cheney in a clever wig or maybe Batman. Or all three. You should really be following this. Trust me. It's also a hell of a lot more interesting than the ongoing Canadian election.
I digress, as I usually do. So there's this brand spankity new game preportedly with the GW stamp of approval that I have seen nor heard nothing of, and a cursory search of Dakka shew me nothing. It was a really cursory search, though. Lots of cursor. That's because rather than finding out things for myself, I figure it's best that you people do my work for me. Which brings me to the point- anybody own and/or played this game and have any thoughts you'd wish to share?

Well, the game is a Real Time Strategy game originally released on the PC.
It received a warm reception, and on the 360 it is, according to reviewers, worse.
If you really want to imerse yourself in WHFB in a video game, I really, REALLY recommend Warhammer Online.
Battlemarch will probably disappoint.

Check gamespot.com. There's a review I think.

I disagree. You don't get the rank and file feel of Warhammer combat in playing
Warhammer online, but what it has that some other games don't have is the feeling
that your contribution is useful. Shield tanks have real opportunities to defend
their parties. A good healer can keep a side going.

I guess it depends on players play style. In many of the public quests and RvR stuff I've been in, tanks will 'rank up' shoulder to shoulder to block enemies from getting through. Add to that guys flying around on disks of tzeench, squigs bouncing all over the place, players with back banners, and captains on horseback. In large battles I often find myself feeling like I'm right in the middle of a WHFB game.

I don't feel like a general commanding hundreds of troops, though. That's what I like about
the tabletop game.
The Fantasy game does have a nice combat feel to it, though.

Isn't it a mixture of conventional MMORPG and battle game? That seems to be its selling point.
I've only read reviews.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor. |
