Alright, I'm about to lose my everlovin mind in anger.

Does anyone else remember when the Space Wolves were actually the "deviant" chapter?

With Fifth Ed. and now the new Space Marine Codex, everything that made the Space Wolves special has now been given to everyone else!!!

First counter attack, now everyone gets it....I know that SW get the attacks if they pass LD, but thats not a guarantee. especially if you roll like I do.
Then the new Scout rule, again, everyone can now come in from a separate table edge. Granted its not the oppnents, but more than one squad can do it.
Then you got the fact that 5th edition negates one of the Space Wolves special rules, No Matter the Odds which was a really good rule in 4th.
The new powerfist rule nerfs everyone, but still pisses me off enough to mention.
And with the new SM codex everyones Ven Dred now has WS/BS 5, and stll cheaper I bet than the SW.
oh, and now a SM librarian can take a power that gives him and a squad hes with a 5+ invulnerable save...Stormcaller anyone?
Not to mention all the new stuff in the SM codex that will be unavailable to the SW's (Except SW's will get the new Storm Shields, which is sweet)

And throw in the fact that they keep pushing a new codex back, or we're not getting one, or it'll be a White Dwarfdex, or COMEON!!!! its been what, almost 10 years!!!!????

All I know is that it better be a real codex, and the Space Wolves better get some serious love, Hell, I'll write it if they're too busy. The reason I chose the Space Wokves in the first place back in 1992 was BECAUSE they were non-traditional. I think thats the reason most of us like them. But they have slowly given codex marines everything that has made the wolves special.

Now I know that there are alot of little menial things that non-wolves are going to post that show deviances in the chapters, yeah, I know. But tell me, when was the last time you've seen a truly competitive SW army that couldn't be replicated by a Codex army? Mid 4th Ed?

I thought you guys were getting a new codex soon? I'm sure the hairy balance will be restored (depending on who writes it..)

Seriously- you want ANOTHER marine codex? Sorry, but marines with more body hair are sill marines. I think there are enough marine rules to go around for a decade or so (yes that is a dig at GW's codex release cycle). I would like to see a SW codex, after: IG, Necron, and DE. Oh, and after the Rainbow Warriors get their own 'dex too.

why not just do a deviant xhapters dex, maybe make it 18+ lol

At least we have the chance for the extra attacks. Thats still uniques as I can count on one hand the number of non-SW units that actually have the counter attack USR.

Attack nerf or not, the fact that GHs get them for 15 points and BCs for 12 is huge. Even WG get then at a discount. Marines are stuck at 25 points.

And with the new SM codex everyones Ven Dred now has WS/BS 5, and stll cheaper I bet than the SW.

Actually the SW Ven Dred is about 10-20 points cheaper for the exact same loadout.

Actually the current SW FAQ says we pay the points for preds, dreads, vindicator, landspeeders, etc. I see nothing that keeps us from getting the same stuff. Also I'm afraid your wrong about the stormshield. Because there is a description of how they work in the summery page, we are stuck with the 4+ inv save vs one opponent in HTH.

This I fully agree with. Its about bloody time for something new.

My whole point of the rant was that they are supposed to be special, and the shine is off THAT apple.

Oh, and you're right about the Storm Shield, I could have sworn that I had a Codex at one time that said -see Space Marine Codex-

But aren't we "supposed" to use new versions of the rules if they are updated in a new codex, as long as they are called the exact same thing?

Actually I chose them because they were the only army (at the time, too young for the midgets) with beards. (One of which I have myself.)

I just hope there is some love for the 13th company in the spacewolves upcoming codex.

You're not the only army that lost uniqueness; just look at eldar they used to be faster on foot than anyone else now everyone can run. and loss of special stuff aside your codex has never been better. you still pay less points on the following:
power weapons
power fists
predators
terminator heavy weapons (not too mention you can get more than anyone else in a unit).
land speeders

Also, your characters are alot tougher than generic SM characters (particularly chappies and libbies) and your ven dreads can be an hq choice and allow you to reroll seizing the initiative which is something.

I hate to sound like a broken record but it could be worse; you could have a shiny new dex made by jervis that takes away almost all of your individuality
try losing the rule that originated with you to orks (FC)

Actually we are forced to use the new landspeeder prices and options. Ahh well, not too shabby. Landspeeder Typhoons are looking pretty sweet.

I have an fully painted and fluffy Emperors Children army now sitting on the shelf, I know the pain chaos went through very well.

Actually Wolves do get the new Storm Shields as the SW Armoury states that we should refer to Codex: SM for a full description of how italicized items work of which the Storm Shield is one.

Its on page 14 of the SW Codex.
