I have a burning question (excuse the pun) about burna boys lol, in have a dep love for burnas and bought two boxes today (i felt abit ripped off to find only 4 burnas and a mek inside but for the price i wasnt going to complain, compared to 5 eldar aspects). now i think mek boys are a complete spank and need a good head thumping from the nearest nob but they can be usefull.

Im fielding 2 full squads of burnas in a 1500pts game, now i have fielded each mob with 3 meks with big shootas and have found they work great to support the rest of the army as they slog it out on foot and if they have no target run. now i want to ask, would it be better to run straigh burnas boys instead or give the mek boyz different weapons?

Please dont suggest a trukk as im a foot slogging warboss.

I'm for Kustom Mega Blasters. They provide the unit some anti-tank capability while complementing the anti-heavy infantry role that burnas excel at. Honestly, its better to have a Str8 weapon in a mob with no other ranged attack. That way, if you do end up shooting a tank you don't waste any of your shots.

The danger posed by the weapon is negligible because once the burnas get stuck in, you'll be killing all of the meks first anyways. The boyz should really be more than capable of sweeping away any lightly armed resistance.

The final point, and the reason I wouldn't go with big shootas is twofold. First off, it isn't point efficient. Shootas are half as expensive as rokkits. It doesn't make sense to swap out for a less potent weapon. Lastly, you might get lucky with those big shootas. If you want to charge a smallish squad, and shoot your big shootas, you could potentially kill 9 enemies. This could cause them to break and run out of assault range or even worse be completely destroyed, stranding you in the enemies sights.

I would be tempted to take ALL Burna Boys.
Mek boys with the Burna Boys s are great for keeping a Battle wagon or Looted wagon hurtling towards the enemy.

But for footsloggers the more Burnas the Better IMO.

i would take all burna's.
if you think only 4 of each is cheap, then you also have to supply ams for rokkit and big shoota from the Boyz box too

all ive done where im having 15 burnas and 15 lootas is using the spare parts from each box to give meenough.

just miffed that boyz cant take burnas anymore :K

I see your points, i really dont like the kustom mega blasters model but havent found anything better to replace, i face armies with no tanks at the moment and have no use for them too, maybe thats why i have found big shootas to be good, i'll have to buy more burna boys lol thanks, if anyone else has comments or help for me please post

I would always take three meks. Give them whatever you want, Rokkits cost extra.

Mostly because a) the burnas are so short ranged b) the shooting is so cheap and c) the tools are so useful.

Only reason not to is if you absolutely HAVE TO HAVE 3x 15x Burnas. But otherwise you may as well toss the Big Shootas in.

It really depends on what threatening me and whats in line of sight and all that, i really take the meks for the kanz and alittle extra long range fire power if need be, as i dont like lootas as much

Playing again squig herder just the other day, the big shootas really do some damage and great cover fire the rest of the boyz, i think that the big shootas are good for orks instead of kustom mega blaster.
