"Skeletons of iron took it all" huffed a out of breath renegade guardsman as he stood in the shadow of the mighty Iron Warrior Daemon Prince, Ferrus.
"What you mean skeletons of iron? We're the only of iron here" snapped Ferrus as he scooped up the guardsman, his giant daemon paw like hand crushing the guards man.
"They came from no where" huffed the guardsman as Ferrus shook him like a rag doll.
"I see no skeletons of iron. Your life is forefit for your petty excuses" and with a flix of his fingers, Ferrus snapped the guardsman's neck.
As the guardsman limp body fell to the floor, two dark objects appeared a short distance away. An errie green light them up, the metal surface was cover in anicent xeno symbols. Out of the haze the iron skeletons appeared.
Ferrus laughed out loud, the guardsman was telling the truth, but it was another soul sent to the chaos gods in his name.
"Iron Warriors, the rare sighted xenos known as Necrontyr approach us. They wish to provide us with fresh metal ore from there own bodies!" Ferrus laughed out loudly as his daemon laughed echoed around the destroyed ruins. The rest of the warband laughed along side him.
"Destroy them all Iron Warriors. Iron within, iron without!"
Deployment
Chaos held the left hand side of the board with the 10 man vanilla CSM squad supporting a vindicator, next to them was the chosen and their rhino transport. Then was the ccw CSM and their rhino, the daemon prince was taking cover behind the rhino, the melta squad supported the rhino. Finally the other vindicator, which was taking cover in a ruin with the plasma csm providing support.
Necrons were fairly simple, the monolith's were either side of the line up with a unit of warriors taking cover behind each one. Then in the centre another unit of warriors supported by the destroyers. In front of them was the d-lord and the wraiths in front of the lord.
Turn 1
Necrons rolled first and advanced. Only the destroyers were in range and they rolled a 6 when firing on the rhino ,due to the gauss rule this gave them auto glance, which another 6 was rolled on the table, immoblising the ccw's rhino.
Both vindicators held positions while the chosen's rhino moved forward. The dp and the ccw csm moved forward, though the ccw csm only managed to get an extra 1" with the run move. All other iron warriors held position, except for the melta csm, they ran forward an extra 1".
Turn 2
Necrons advanced, the warriors still used the monoliths for cover. The first monolith fired onto the vanilla csm, it scatter back a total of 3" back towards the monolith itself but after rolls killed 3 of the iron warriors. The gauss flux arc fired at the same unit and killed another one. The destroyers fired on the approaching ccw csm's to give the lord and wraiths less to face in combat along with the dp, they managed to kill a total of 4 iron warriors. The second monolith fire the particle whip on the plasma marines, though it scattered 3" and into the already depleted ccw csm's! It managed to kill 3 marines from the plasma squad and 2 from the ccw squad. the monolith then fired the particle whip at the dp, ccw csm and the plasma csm, though it only managed to kill 1 from the ccw csm squad.
The lord and wraiths charged the daemon prince, the wraiths failed to score any wounds and took none themselves from the mighty dp. The dp then attacked the lord, scoring one wound, which was saved. The lord attacked back and managed to score an impressive 2 wounds on the prince.
Both the vindicators moved forward to get into range, the first one fired on the monolith, landing on target but failed to do any damage. The Chosen disembarked from the rhino, with the warriors from the first monolith in view they opened fired with the meltas, killing one and then another with the flamer. The bolter shots managed to score four wounds, but all were saved. The melta ccw move forward, but were out of range of the destroyers. The plasma squad moved forward, but was out of LOS on the third warrior squad behind the second monolith. The vindicator fired onto the centre warrior squad, the template would have caught just two, however it scattered backwards into the unit and killed four.
In assault the remaining ccw csm charged the wraiths, but only engaged one in combat. The ccw took one wound themselves and the wraiths suffered none, though the ccw passed there leadership test. The daemon prince had more luck and managed to kill one wraith, which awaited a roll from the res orb in the next round. The dp and lord drew combat to a stalemate.
Turn 3
The warriors which were just attacked by the chosen return fire with rapid fire, but only manage to kill two. The monolith fires on the iron warriors with the particle whip which it fired up on the last round and kills the entire remaining seven as the template fails to scatter. The 'lith fires its gauss flux arcs at the chosen, but fails to kill any. The seocnd monolith fires on the plasma fires, landing on target and kills 3, it fires the gauss flux arcs and kills another 1. The warriors taking cover beind monolith two come out of cover, however only 4 are within rapid fire range and fire on the beaten plasma csm, but fail to score any kills after armour saves. The downed wraith fails to make its res orb roll.
In close combat the wraiths fail to score any wounds on the dp and ccw marines, however take a wound from the ccw marines themselves. The lord fails to score any wounds on the prince and vice-versa
The first vindicator changes its target after not cracking the monolith and fires across the board onto the unit of warriors which have just come ino view from behind the second monolith, but it scatters and misses. The chosen don't bother shooting the warriors, and just charge into close combat. The remaining plasma marines fire on the warriors, scoring two kills. The second vindicator fires on the same warriors as the plasma marines, it scatters back into the unit and kills four, it also hits the monolith but fails to do any damage. The melta csm targetted the destroyers, killing one with melta fire they then rapid fired on the destroyers scoring several wounds, which the destroyers failed five of them and were destroyed!
In combat the ccw csm killed the last wraith and consolidated 6" the other side of the combat, ready to assist the dp or charge in if the wraith makes it res orb roll. The dp scores a wound on the lord, and the lord fails to score one on the dp, leaving it with just two one wounds remaining. The chosen only manage to kill one warrior in combat.
Turn 4
The wraith fails to makes it res orb and all warriors downed by plasma fire make successful WBB rolls. The remaining warriors around the monolith and open fire on the ccw csm, killing all but one. The second monolith fires it gauss flux arc, killing the remaining three plasma marines, it also fires the particle whip on the second vindicator, it scatters back but catches the rear armour, after a roll of 5 on the vehicle table its destroyed.. The warriors based in the middle of the board rapid fire on the remaining chosen, along with the warriors the chosen had previously charged, which escaped close combat by teleporting through the monolith portal, leaving just the power weapon armed chosen remaining after saves. The monolith moves forward to the teleported warriors are now behind it and fires the gauss flux arc at the melta csm and manages to kill only one.
In close combat the lord and prince fail to score any wounds on each other.
The solo chosen with the power weapon charges the 6 remaining warriors in the centre of the board, killing one. The melta squad which had previously baked and bullet holed the destroyers open fire with limited fire power due to los on the 7 warriors which are now behind the monolith, though with one melta shot they manage to score a wound. Both vindicators do not fire due to not having a target, or risking hitting themselves.
In combat the lord fails to score any wounds on the daemon prince, but is destroyed itself. The prince then consolidates 6"
Turn 5
The second monolith portals the warriors under attack from the last chosen to saftey, they're just about in rapid fire distance and fire at the last chosen, scoring a kill. The 6 remaining warriors behind the first monolith fire on the melta iron warriors, but only kill two. The monolith fires the particle whip at the vindicator in front of it, but it scatters and misses. The warriors which had killed the ccw marines in the last round finally kill the last ccw csm.
The dp doesn't bother firing the doombolt, and charges the warriors which had killed the last csm. The first vindicator fires at the warriors which had just teleported through the monolith portal and kills them all, though it fails to do any damage to the monolith.
The daemon prince in combat kills two of the warriors.
With only 6 warriors left necrons phase out.
Good game, chaos was taking a whipping at the start as the vindicators held back. With the power of the monoliths the necrons managed to score some big kills in the opening rounds, and also managed to destroy one tank with ease. Though goes to show how quickly a game can change, is there was no phase out then necrons may have pulled it back.
