I think when Outflanking if you roll a 1 for table side your opponent should be able to pick the side you come in on.
What do you think?

I'd be OK with this if the Outflank rule were changed:
1 = Opponent chooses Left or Right
2 = Player's DZ
3 = Left edge
4 = Right edge
5 = Opponent's DZ
6 = Player chooses any board edge

Don't do it, its already too random.

66% chance to go where you want.

33% chance for utter fail.

You want to change this to 33% to go where you want, 66% chance for utter fail? Too much of a risk then, why use it at all?

Compare to deep-striking which is relatively safe from a tactical point of view (even though in two games I've seen entire squads wiped out each game).

Deep strike -
66% dead on target or close enough
11% back in reserve (try again)
22% Dead on Arrival or Opponent screws you
Beacons and icons significantly improve the odds.

Ending up on the other side of the board is not always "utter fail". Often times it is just not the most useful place for you to be. It really depends on what's going on in the battle and what unit it is that's comming in, but in either case "utter fail" is not a foregone conclusion.

I think things are more or less fine as they are and having your opponent chose which side you come in on is something that shouldn't be added in with such a limited range of possibilities. Maybe if board edge was decided on a 2d6 roll of some sort then you could add it in.

Threads should be like skirts: long enough to cover what's important but short enough to keep it interesting.

Personally I like the rule as is. Leaves more tactical descisions to the owning player. In general things like outflank and deep strike have made certain units more reliable.
