we'll worry about the rules of the thing latter. as far as our games all the hatch's WHERE BLOWN OPEN so they where all down. and for that same reason you had to deploy 2" from the drop pod itself not the hatch's.

first up is this thing. the rocket engine that fires the drop pod.

when you build it ( in blue) you want to make sure that this rod isn't glued at the top but rather the bottom so that the weapon can spin. the 'engine' is actually in 4 parts not counting the parts on the outside. it all goes togethor rather nicely and is all good to go. (in green) you can see the com station where the sargent tells them whats happennig bellow, or plays pong with another marine depending on how you paint it. this is made up of 6 peices including the top. you'll want to start by puttin two of the things down and making sure their flush and working quickly because you might need to adjust them as you go. once all 5 are down and you know their good glue the top on (com thing) to keep them in place.

when building the middle
be very careful its all ligned up. I rushed these and I think thats why mine don't close all the way.

strap in.

these little bastards have a very thin whire connected to a large half cylinder peice that go into the com unit. (see through red) this peice broke on me at least once on each drop pod. these you want to be very carefull with so that you don't snap them and give yourself another set of headache's. the chairs connect to the center com (3) and to the fins.

I think thats where my next problem was, when I build the fins on my 3rd one I just popped of those little wires ( 1 and 2) but it still didn't fit right.

Looks like you're using superglue... if so, that might be where some of your problems are coming from.

Using plastic cement, aside from giving a better bond, gives you a bit more work time to get the pieces sitting right.

I didn't think about that at tht time.

in all honesty I need to stop building complex models at the gaming shop.

Everything should line up flush. Yours is all messed up.

The pieces by the engine are upside down. The three circles should be on top. The fins fit in there snug. Plastic glue on back (engine) should keep in place.

The fins line up with the groove on engine, also. Yours do not.

It's not necessary to glue in straps where troops would stand. They stay in place without glue.

well i built three of these for a game and it took about 4 hours. since I play with them open I don't think it'll mater to much.

but I didn't have any of them fit snug. it always seemed to be just a little to far one way or another.

Build my 1st pod yesterday, luckily GW posted that Droppod assembly guide just shortly before so I could take some precious tips from it. The kit plans are truely rubbish.

However there is one bug in the GW online assembly guide: the central column to which the five drop harness holders attach.... You HAVE to assemble them seperately and glue them to the coloumn. Then when the whole thing is finished glue it to the droppod floor. Other wise they won´t fit into the holes in the floor...

And the rotating cylinder holding the Storm Bolter is a problem also...If you use too much glue when assembling the fins it can glue into place, which happenend to mine. Luckily I was able to cut it loose again.

With some gentle pressure you can bend the floor down alittle and insert harness/stantions.

I did not glue mine.

I hate buying gw glue.
