First of all, I love Tyranids. Something about having complete and total control over every aspect of every minion's every moment of life thrills me.

This is the only website not blocked by my work computer's "anti-fun filter". Which, is awesome actually. But I was wondering if all you wonderful people could give me tips and tricks or info on what materials are good for painting and sculpting.

I have cheap Wal-Mart acrylic paint and sculpy. And so far I have made what I like to call: "The Short Bus Biovore" whose picture shall not be posted

I'm on a limited budget, and even though I have been playing and collecting for years................I have never painted anything

Any help or info will be greatly appreciated

Epoxy Putty is the typical material used. It's usually sold as Kneadnite or "Green Stuff". There are also related Brown and Grey stuffs out there that fulfill specific sculpting needs.

I have heard of this "Green Stuff".
Comes sold as blue and yellow combined to make green
fast to dry
easy to stick on correct? does it need glue to stick in place or does it dry in place?
And how much does it usually sell for on average?

it does generally need a helping of glue but i find its pretty good quality. make sure you having sculpting materials with you and water on your fingers to stop them sticking to it. it dries relativley fast. its about £5 in the UK. so in the US, thats like... nearly 9 dollars right?

If you end up sculpting before painting anything that would certainly be weird... The nids are probally a good place to start, through, because I don't know how much of the fluff you have read, but they are supposed to be constantly evolving. Only the Orks have a better excuse for bizzare conversions than that.

Also, why "Short Bus" Biovore?

Have a read of the articles in the Painting and Modelling Articles. You should find a lot of useful info there.

All the ”Special Needs Children” ride the shorter bus to school. My Biovore is special; with special needs...Hence, he is the Short Bus Biovore...

Basically, he is slowed looking...there I said it okay...

I tried to run before I could walk; I sculpted a creature I have never even seen before based off a picture in a book. Totally left off the spore sac because I could not see underneath, made it almost twice as big and defiantly twice as goofy looking.

But it was fun, and that’s what matters.
Next I was going to try and sculpt some Ripper Swarms (hopefully not the kind who ride the short bus)

Any hoot. I tried my first paint job this weekend. Practicing on the Space Marines that came in the Battle for Maccrage set. And let me tell you. Cheap Wal-Mart acrylic paint is NOT the way to go. Maybe if it is fresh off the press, but the stuff I got was at least 5 years old and dried out. So watch those expiration dates kids.

Also, I learned the importance of a primer base coat of spray paint, other wise everything scrapes right off.

Is there a space marine chapter whose colors are Green, Brown Trim, and White details? That’s what I chose and it looks pretty neat. No Idea what colors I'm going to paint my Hive Fleet Kaosian though.

Keep up the advice please, I am absorbing it like a Tyranid Digestion Pool
