So, it has been a while since I've seen anything about Helldorado...
Anyone in the US give it a try?
Anyone have a review?
I'm interested, but without 'official' English support and model distribution, it is a heck of a leap to take without a good look first...
Also, a lot of English language stuff can be found here:

I guess not?
The French lose again!
(Or, if it is a really good game, maybe we do this time...)

Not yet, but the models look phenomenal. I've been trying to order a few for chaos.

I posted my Westerner army a long time ago, to absolutely zero response.
It's a good game. Takes after Warmachine a lot in terms of overall feel, size and forces.
The reason it won't be released in English is because Asmodee is afraid of having their tits sued off entering the North American market by the religious right.
Lots of games have demons in their rulebooks... how many have a full page painting of an Angel being raped by a Conquistador on page 69?
As a french speaking gamer, I've got all their products en francais (much as I first collected Confrontation almost ten years ago), including the rulebook.
Basically, it deals with themes considered too sensitive for the north american market. That's why they're not doing the rulebook in english. So if you do get into it, be prepared to have to work with web-rulebooks.

It is really sad that the people in charge there have that sort of attitude towards all English speaking countries. I thought that the reason for this had to do with business decisions. Never did I imagine that it had to do with prejudice.
I am surprised that anybody running a (or working for) business would would post something like this.
I was somewhat on the fence about this game. There are plenty of other game out there and I will be playing those.
This was an actual quote from Tabletop Gaming News commenting on Asmodee's decision regarding publishing Hell Dorado in America a few months ago. Pure unfiltered hilarity.

Does the web-based English rulebook have all the artwork and background?
If so, seems good enough to me...

It's the complete rules section of the rulebook.
It doesn't contain all the unit backgrounds, but you can get all the unit stats off the card-downloads.
That being said, both are full colour. Check em out!
Here's a link...
Enjoy!

i play it on a regular basis and take part in the majority of tournements for it in the UK.
IMO its the best skirmish game on the market. fast and furious but takes serious skill and tactical thinking to be good at it. theres a good bunch of players close to manchester and some more down london way and up in glasgow too but little inbetween it seems.

Um, there's a new announcement.
"Poorly translated while it's being officially translated.
From Geof (Head of HD)
"ASMODEE stops publishing Hell Dorado.
The news came as a bombshell for financial reasons independent Asmodée but unfortunately simply related to the profitability of the own game Asmodée will stop publishing Hell Dorado.
I have always been very transparent about our delay, our productions, our failures and our desires on this game, it seemed less important to continue to be today.
That said, all is not ... not yet ... No, not everything is finished.
The current situation of the game and his team is as follows: I had to tell the guy from Nantes, probably some of the best sculptors and illustrators, media Asmodée that separated them at the end of April.
This week the company released the Immortals, in March released a reinforcement and a reinforcement Immortel Occidental, reinforcement and a reinforcement Sarrasin Démon in May and a reinforcement and a reinforcement Lost Mercenary in June.
Continue to remove these products is subject to two ideas: the desire to do things properly by providing a game a little late finish if there must be, to leave open the possibility of finding a buyer.
I am in effect since the beginning of the week, looking for potential buyer interested in the game I think about all the possibilities: a single buyer, creating an open license that allows multiple buyers to work on the range without running too large financial risks and increase the possibility of orders for freelance artists who have created this range, the possibility of selling the game on the internet for pre figs with resin or metal so as to minimize the costs ...
Within two days of many avenues, many more than I initially imagined, were open to me. I will of course aware of the developments.
We have the advantage of having many interesting things for a potential buyer, many concepts and technical profiles for the months to come, motivated, paid translation into English of the game 80%, 1635 Profiles in English and French finished with 99%, two novels written / reviewed / paid, not including mussels, figs demos ...
Output until the month of June also allow time for a buyer to organize the game to boost his sauce at the end of the holiday.
Regarding the Com 'game, I leave the floor to Nico:
The game held:
The storyline tournaments scheduled until the end of April are maintained. Playground equipment, staffing, etc.. Everything will be sent. Similarly, the results of these tournaments storyline will be taken into account in published news on the site.
The official tournaments scheduled in May in June were canceled (including the pioneering event in late June).
During the fair boardgame (25/26 April) will be the final tournament Asmodée / Hell Dorado, "the tales of Dyu which fully incorporates the immortal faction in the universe. This tournament will take place over 2 days with a lot of participation so that everyone can come when he can.
Pioneers:
Although for the moment this program is no longer necessarily need to be, we will respond positively to all the applications we received to date. Aspiring pioneers will receive the material agreed (figurines, decorations, T-Shirt) during March. We thank now all those who contacted us and wanted to invest even more in this project. The avant-garde pioneers will be among the first to be held in the event of resumption of the game to reinvest the shops and clubs.
The shop primae materiae and sponsorships:
The monitoring of these operations will be provided until July 31. You can continue to send your points primae materiae your newsletters and sponsorship until that date. We will put online very soon T-shirt and sweat-shirt provided for so long.
The official Ravage:
We will continue our collaboration with Ravage until No. 53 (June 2009 release). The content of the last two No. on our game:
No. 52: Presentation and analysis of the next officer Western 2 ready to play scenarios to test the immortal 2 factions against specific.
No. 53: 2 scenarios to test the immortal against two other factions. Review of the storyline, to close the year 1635. It is hoped that this article provide a map of the earth, work begun by now.
Here is the situation as it is today, five days after the fateful decision. I can only imagine your disappointment, your frustration, your questions. I wanted to be clear immediately, even before the release of Immortals, you leave the choice to leave the boat while the water.
You may be thinking that it is strange that his timing is, too, that the community was going to grow, the game took a second breath. Remind yourself that all your questions and concerns we share. But the fact is that the decision is taken, it does not re history, and that my only goal is to look forward, trying to find a way to continue to live Hell Dorado to continue working three sculptors and an illustrator.
I am at your disposal to answer your questions ... but we need to leave me a little time because there, suddenly, the time has accelerated. I would make sure to inform you regularly here. I will also try to find time to respond to mps waiting to mails ... I would, let me a little time.
Now, you know everything. I understand perfectly that you want to leave us, you're disappointed, but I hope you follow through ... and hope with us that there will be no end but a continuation.
Geof
PS: If you wish, to avoid epilogue on what could have, should have been done ... anyway it's done. So if yesterday did not much interest me, but I'm interested in any ideas on what might happen tomorrow. And in any case thank you to have followed so far."
What this means is that they are done. But not dead. They are looking for another buyer for the game. With the possibility of US companies. I've been in contact with them since I first heard about it on Monday. And I'm throwing Catalyst Games (Shadowrun/Battlete ch/Cthulhu- Tech) and Iron Wind Metals into the ring.
Don't give up hope yet! Also, we have plenty to play with currently with a few more coming out until June!
Any questions or suggestions I'll do my best to field."
Second hand. I'm on a Hell Dorado yahoo group and they
reposted the stuff, but I can't imagine it being anything but
legit.
