ok so i realize that this is like exactly the same thread as the nauticans but reading it made me want to try my hand at making a new army book. i got really exited about it and then realized after two hours of searching the web i couldn't find an army that really was something to build a fantasy army around. i was really looking for any ideas to jump off of, i want to write a mini book and then model some troops, this just sounds like fun and i wanted to try it out. any ideas would be great cuz im at a loss, thanks guys.

Here are all of my really good ideas for an army book:
Nah, kidding. I'm going to have to did up the ol' feline-humanoid army book I did when I was fourteen. Can't remember what they were called, but I had some great artwork done by one of my good friends...
It was great at the time. The sorceror is still a nice shot. Meh.

okay well i slept on it, and i really wanted to base the army around some historical army. i decided that a mongol horde would be really cool. it would be something like bretonnia except the knights wouldnt be as powerful and the army would rely on tactical manueving of your cavalary. i would also like to make it so that, unlike bretonnia, the foot troops would be a feasible unit. this army wold be more about tactics then hacking and slashing, trying to manuevere your cavalry archers into position etc. what do you think?
perhaps i could theme it like beastmen with human bodies, call them the horde of terror. maybe they can have units causing fear on the charge because they are so viciuos..i dunno that calls for playtesting

If you want viable infantry, then the mongol horde is not the way to go.
The only historical combo I can think of with horse archers and infantry are turkish armies 1000-1300AD (some of who's tactics were utilised in other islamic armies of the period such as Saladin's egyptian forces at the Horns of Hattin, 1187).
You could always do them as rebels from eastern araby, caught between the human empire to their west and the undead empire to their east and south.

hmmmm..i hadnt thought of saladin...he might be interesting
could you explain what you meant by the araby rebels
and finally, less than a playable army i would like an army that would be fun to model and paint, kinda just a project i was thinking, but maybe ill chose an existing army and convert it to make it interesting, what would you suggest is the most convertable/most fun to paint/ coolest looking models/and not elves, models to buy?

On the old world maps, Araby is marked on the area analogous to north-west africa (across the sea south of estalia) whilst the dead lands of the tomb kings stretch over an area analogous to egypt and ethiopia (south of the badlands.
Its not too much of a stretch to imagine a lawless border region between the two - somewhere that the people of Araby would not dare go (for fear of the dead) and that the tomb kings have no interest in (unless they're invading Araby).
You could populate this with an army like you describe - a force of nomads and rebels (draw inspiration from berber cavalry, bedouin tribesmen, the forces of Saladin already mentioned, hell, even 'lawrence of arabia')
good luck with it, anyhow,
