Hey guys
I want to start a Cygnar army but I want plenty of light jacks built around a heavy jack with a good warcaster to hold them. What are some ideas? (this army isn't designed for tournaments its more for 1 off games)

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

Kraye for light warjacks. He's the cavalry guy. Any warjacks
in his battlegroup use cavalry rules and light warjacks use
light cavalry rules.

The centurion is the best heavy jack they have, and are useful in other lists so I'd start with one of those.

Centurion, Lancer, Hunter. You can pretty much use those three jacks with any caster, but Haley and Kraye are going to be at the top of your list. Toss in some units and solos and you're good to go.
In fact, the more I think about it, Kraye with a Hunter and a Centurion is just a little unfair.

Here's the unfair Kraye combo (pending a PP ruling).
Kraye, Thunderhead, and either Strangeways or Aiyanna.
Strangeways or Aiyanna to the 'attacks count as magical' on Thunderhead. Kraye does the 'all ranged attack rolls are boosted' and the 'double speed, but can't make ranged attacks.' Thunderhead moves 10 inches and pulses. Why does it work?
Kraye's spell specifically disallows only ranged attacks
Electropulse attacks can count as magical, so can move SPDx2 and make a magic attack
Ranged attack rolls is not 'ranged attack' and PP ruled with the Gunmages that you can Deadeye them and make magic attacks at RAT + 3d6.
I don't know if they'll errata this or let it stand. Kraye looks to be all sorts of awesomesauce.
Anyway, I would look at Kraye or eNemo. Both need some protection against assassination, but that's okay. Kraye runs light jacks with ranged attacks really good. eNemo's feat can give all the jacks in his battlegroup 3 FOC (and then he pull those 3 off one of the jacks). Haley's Temporal Barrier basically gives jacks +3 on their to-hit. They're all viable casters to build a ranged jack force around.

The more I look at Legends, the more I think the whole book is broken. Since when is every unit Fearless? I mean, really.

@ Gorbitz: Does Junior run the Sentinel or does he just keep dropping Arcane Shield on stuff?

From a guy who has been playing Warmachine since the very first day it came out :
Dont touch Kraye if you are a beginner. He is the hardest warcaster to play decently in the Cygnar faction.
You want a Warjack caster ? Go Darius. Simple, straightforward, fun (maybe except for your opponent I hear sometimes ;-) )
Kraye is something you can come back to when you got a serious amount of games under your belt.

Nope, it aint gonna be errata'ed.
260 points for a combo that every player with an IQ of 60+ can see coming .....
Spread out your infantry units and he might catch three models. After which he looses a warjack worth 154 points.
Or just go after Aiyana or Strangeways.
It aint that bad ;-)
I'm having more problems with Cryx, who can take over a unit of their opponents for the entire game. Imagine having your hard-hitting cavalry unit being taken over, who then turn towards your warcaster and smack him .

@syr8766- Yeah Jr. is just a boosted handcannon and an AS. Increases the survivability of the Sword Knights immensly.
@ OP- If you dont want to play Kraye, just play Stryker with an Ironclad, Lancer, and a hunter. Sprinkle with a unit and some solos to taste and you have a decent army. I dont think Kraye was any harder to figure out than any other caster Ive played with. You just need to have a good grasp of the cavalry rules.

I don't think Kraye, TH, and magic attack will get errata'ed. I think it's possible that something else might be to eliminate this combo (and likely some others).

I know some of the Infernals (the rules dudes on the PP forums) personally , as in they are real life friends of mine, and its not gonna be errata'ed.
Thats the situation at this moment, it might always change of course.
And as for Kraye, playing with him is easy, winning against a semi-decent opponent might be hard for a beginner.

Its not just Darius we hate, its the fact that he ALWAYS comes with 2 Centurions. And the synergy between Darius and Centurions is sickening.

I usually don't take 2 cents with Darius. I found Centurion, IC, and Lancer to be pretty potent. JWC had a Hunter, but I was tempted to put that on Darius too. With the stuff from Legends, not sure what I'd do, but I'd be tempted to throw Strangeways and a Defender into the list.

Hi Hod;
Of course you could always revised the Tower of Power list that has Seize Brisebane and two defenders as the base of the force. In a 500 point game you will want to Have a Journeyman WC and a hunter and maybe a unit of Trencers or Long gunners.
If you want an all Jack List run Darris as your caster and a centurian with some light and heavy jacks to assist. If you run this take a unit of mechanics with gobbers and add Strangeways for a boost.
Good luck.
