because of VPs in 5th, i've heard people say they're
not dropping the Platoon HQ anymore, or as much.
what do you do with them now? i'm thinking of giving
them flamers and having them support the line squads.
thoughts?

I just use them as another heavy weapons platform. Keeping costs Low, and using them as an opportunity to pack more dakka. I don't really see any other use for them. but using them for flame spam is also a good idea, but if you want real flamer spam, take an inquisitor lord, and give his entire retinue of 14 guys flamers. then you have a party

Ya I use them as a lascannon platform cause i usually keep them in the back.
Dropping them is just giving your opponent 2 easy KP's now =[

I still use them with 4 plasma guns, just don't drop them in KP games. They still come in useful behind the lines as a mobile fire unit. In Objective games they drop in, plasmify, and on rare occasions live long enough to contest/control an objective.

Um, off topic, but you can only take three of each type of retainer, right? And the only retainers that can take wargear options are Acolytes, so that's three flamers max. None of the other retainers have access to the armoury....

Oh, and an Inquisitor Lord's retinue is 12 people max, not 14

4 Meltas or 4 plasma's

If not Drop then Just Regimental standard Trademark item and thats it with ID. and maybe 1 flamer
