Well another mini completed today. Pretty happy with the outcome, I think the dull muted tones I choose really help hammer home the fact that he is a wood elf. I also went for less pinky skin then the barbarian. Instead of mixing red gore into the basecoat, I used a smidgeon of grey, to give a more ashen elfy look.

I used washes to shade all the fabrics. I did this carefully and slowly building up the layers like you would in a water colour painting. Created a lovely softness to the piece I feel. Main 4 colours I choose for this model were Vallejo game colour: Earth, Cayman Green, Terracotta and desert yellow. Also went for the non standard purple gems just to be different.

The cloak is the standout with this piece. Very nicely done with tons of contrast.

A little more work on the gems with transition could help I think though. Right now they seem a bit flat.

Great work yet again. Did you finish this guy all in one day?

Very nice job, and you definitely called on the purple gems.

Yep single day again. Just knocked him out quickly. Got stacks to paint for Warhammer Quest. Most definitely gaming standard and not showcase (the base is a dead giveaway).

Looks pretty nice. For some reason I have trouble getting a bow like that to have the wood grain appearance, and instead it just seems to have....lines on it. The sword and cloak are well done too.

The bow is snakebite leather highlighted up a little using bleach bone. I then mix flesh and a touch of black ink together and use a very small brush to line the grain. The bow is smooth so its all in the brush control.

if your lines are too thick it won't be believable.

Cheers for the nice comments.

Looks great! As mentioned by others, the wood grain painting is very nice.

The model itself has aged well, although that wrist angle looks a bit dodgy.

Love the cloak. If you painted all the pieces like you did the Black Reach set, I would save the picture and make a tshirt out of it and sleep in it.
