Sooooo...
wayyyy back in the day when I first discovered that iconic of games Rogue Trader (tho to be fair I dont remember anyone actually calling it by that name then) my most favourite of races was the Eldar.
My first 40k minis were the legendary RTB01 set of marines, my first full army was a genestealer cult using the rules from White Dwarf (we got chaos gifts back then dont-ya-know?) but my first real love was the Eldar.
I bought the original Harlequin boxed set and at first had a harlie army ('real' eldar at the time were known as 'space pirates' and 'space elves'). Eventually though a quite amazing issue of White Dwarf gave the rules for craftworld eldar as we know them, I dont remember then number but I think it had a green dragon on the cover.
Anywhoo, I was a massive eldar fan all the way through to mid 3rd ed, rarely using anything else. Then I just kinda tired of them, I sold my latest eldar incarnation (a proper Saim Hain force) and have since used most of the other races available.
fast forward to now (still with me? great!!) and I've got the pointy eared bug again. It started last year when I bought a load of old Jes Goodwin eldar off ebay. I couldnt help myself - I really dont think they have been bettered and the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia (along with a few vodkas) did the bidding.
I've scratched about and found a few remanents of my old army lurking in bits boxes, bought a few odds and sods and now have an eldar army ready to go. Hopefully the variety an eldar army gives in paintwork will keep me inspired to finish another army.
Heres an overall look at the army - some I have started and some still need stripped.
and heres my first finished unit - Dark Reapers!

I really want to dig into my eldar. Unfortunately for me, I'm really set on the idea of doing Saim Hann as well. That's unfortunate because I absolutely hate the current bike models. This means I have to wait out on building the bulk of the army. Not that it's a huge issue, I've got plenty on my plate right now as is x.x....
Good to see someone picking up on the pointy ears around these parts. I'll be watching and commenting where I can ^_^.

which head? the exarch? yeah I like it too, its actually from the new dark elf cold one sprue.
that'll be my Phoenix, I', going for Iyanden but I'm not filling it full of ghost warriors. I've put some nods to the war Vs Kraken on some of the bases - the idea being its before they were wiped out.
the big black fella in the middle is a scratch built scorpion, not my handiwork though - I'll show it in detail later in the blog.

Ok, I havent forgotten about these. I've been working away. Heres some recent WIPs, all of these will eventually get worked on some more to different degrees. I'm trying to get them to tabletop quality first though.
I keep switching beween which units I'm painting to keep it interesting.
Dire Avengers
D-cannon
Rangers
Harlequins
Phoenix
Avatar
Fire Dragon
Howling Banshees
Jet bike
What do you think? I'm really enjoying painting these, been and gotten me a codex and I reckon I'll debut them in a game this week (obv some unpainted stuff will have to be used temp.

A fellow newborn (or is it reborn? ) Iyanden player! Looking good so far, cant wait to see the rest of your guys. I see you chose to go with an All yellow Jetbike, I have experimented with a few diffrent schemes, blue body/wings with yellow nose, but I (like you i'm sure) really like the clean look of a solid yellow jetbike.
(a work in progress)
I'm curious how your doing your yellows? Recently i've setteld on using (over a skull white primer) bleached bone, then drybrushing golden yellow over that, then yellow ink. Sunburst yellow highlights over that. Alot of work to achieve a decent yellow but these damn acrylics are a pain. Except my bikes/tanks, which i use spray on.

Glad to see another Iyanden player, theres just something about there back story thats deeper than the other craftworlds. I love it.
Will have to get me a Yriel.

Thats a WIP exodite gun platform. at the moment is just a really nice resin triceratops with a eldar missle launcher howda. I'mm be making it look more eldar-tech and eventually adding crew and building some dragon knights.

The blue and bone really works well together.
What did you use for the blue?

waaaaay overdue an update. heres a quick couple of photos...
ok, am finally progressing with the Scorpion. I've put all the base colour on and started to highlight.
I took a quick snapshot on my phone as I left for work. I'll pic better pics up later.
Also I have been working on the exodite saurion. Still more to do but I like the way its heading:
Now if I can just stick to one project at a time I can get this army finished.

thanks for the replies and comments.
Yeah theres minis from 2nd and 3rd there too. I got a box of storm guardians and a box of 3rd ed avengers cheap in a closing down sale so have used them.
I really like the storm guardians, its annoying theres only 8 in the box though.
I had originally painted up the original RT avatar. I eventually replaced it with a regular one I had in my bits box. As much as I like the RT one I can imagine people claiming cheese due to new LOS rules.
