I grew up totally lacking ambition because I was sure we were going to be destroyed in a nuclear war, then that evaporated and I spent the next ten years trying to better myself, to no effect and now it looks like we're going to wake up in a society that even George Orwell could not have predicted. I'm personally too tired of hearing this sort of stuff from Lou Dobbs and others, not because I disbelieve it but because the whole system has been manipulated so that it is impossible in this country for the ordinary people to rise up.

I'm annoyed because we have to heve a interest rate drop and comodity prices have dropped- causing the AUS dollar to plummet.

So instead of saving 30-40% on mailorder from GWUS I have to go to the UK and wait 28 days for minis to arrive. And now I'm only saving 20% on buying retail here in Australia.

Real life drama for a man on the other side of the world....

I raised the issue in another thread when the bill was first knocked down that the markets would still fall because bill or not thats where they were heading anyway, and it was just going to slow things down.
By slowing things down I thought months not days to get where it has overnight.

The Western economy is built on BS. Monetarism works by some people declaring themselves rich and everyone saying OK to it.

You're forgetting that those people are willing to lie, cheat, steal and hire people with no necks and no consciences to bully others into saying ok. We're land of the free introductory offer and the reams and reams of fine print.

That youtube link in the first link is lying to you. Not a 'differing opinion', it's being downright disingenuous. Spouting about printing money leading to inflation as a great secret, as though it wasn't openly accepted? Then trying to make the link that the money being printed right now is being sent to Wall Street to 'bail out the bankers'... that parts a straight up lie. Then it tries to make some kind of argument about using the terrorist attacks of Sept 11 to shut down a budget analyst? Wouldn't have been easier to cut the guy's brakes something... stupid and a lie.

When he starts on derivatives I'm a little more likely to give him the benefit of the doubt. It's a complicated subject and prone to misunderstanding... so he might just be wrong and poorly informed there rather than lying. The result is the same, though, he is utterly wrong when arguing that a small number of assets can end up producing large asset values.

It's too much to go into here but if you're interested in the topic I'd recommend Elgar's Monetary Economics. It's a little dry but at least the guy is honest.
