Subject: Khan - Outflanking Razorback/Heavybolter Spam

Local shop is starting an escalation league, Starts at 1000 and goes to 2000 in 250 increments. Thinking of an old army list updated for the new codex led by Khan to get the outflanking.
HQ Khan 160
5 Cmd: Apothecary, Standard w PW, Champion, 2 PW in Razorback Las/Plas 265
2x Troop 5 Marines: Sgt w PW & MB in Razorback Las/Plas 185 ea
2x Troop 5 Marines: Sgt w PW in Razorback Las/Plas 180 ea
3 xFast Attack 2 Landspeeders w 2 Hvy Bolters 120 ea
2 xHeavy 6 Devastators w 4 x Hvy Bolters in Razorback Las/Plas 241 ea
1997
Light on troops but heavy on heavy weapons and one hard hitting small unit.
7 x Las/TL Plasma Razorbacks
20 x Hvy Bolters.
Idea is to reserve the troops for outflanking, deploy the heavies and speeders and shoot them up.
Khan with his command squad come in and hit hard on (most likely) both flanks. So the heavies may get shot up and die but my troops are intact for the most part until they start arriving on Turn 2.
Khan and the command squad should be able to dismount and slaughter just about anything with furious charge and the banner.
The tac squads, preferrably stay mounted up and are just there to contest hold objectives. I know this will have some problems with KP games just because of all the small squads and low AV vehicles but this should be a world of pain on a lot of armies. Only real issue I am seeing is lack of Monolith, Land Raider kills but I just can't see giving anything but PW to Khan's Cmd squad with Furious Charge and Hit & Run.
Thinking of how to come up with 100 points and field a librarian in this just to be able to mess with enemy psychers. Depending on what others play would like Vortex of Doom (would be only AV14 AT weapon), Avenger or maybe just Machine Curse and ensure a glance so at least 1 big nasty can't fire... Otherwise Null Zone just to mess with invulnerables.
Didn't bore you with the details, but you build off what you got... so no upgrading in the next round. So I take my 1000 pt army and add
upto 1250. I think I am no worse than 45 points below with this setup at any of the 250 increments.
Comments, ideas?

I am not a fan of heavy weapons coming in off of reserves. The majority of your guns can't even fire until Turn 3, if you're lucky. I'd take plas tactical squads with power fists if you want to be outflanking, or dump khan and take a more useful HQ choice like a librarian/master of the forge if you want to deploy the heavy bolter gunline.

Hmmm lose khan for librarian. That leaves me 60 points... could probably scrounge up a generic captain to still qualify for a command squad, only thing I am losing is Furious Charge and Hit & Run.... Might be a better option.
Thanks.

Splitting the army into initially deployed units and units coming from reserves is not a good tactics as the enemy can take on part of your army. I'd rethink about it.

He has las/plas razorbacks moosifer. Not tacticals. His 5 mans only have a tooled sgt which is perfectly legal.

I know, hence the edit
You are sinking Predator with HB sponsons type points into a AV11 transport. Call me crazy but that just seems a bit silly, esp since if you move more than 6 from the edge you are not going to be able to fire the gun. Couple that with the enemy general castle, you are SOL in terms of getting anywhere, and he will pick you apart with his AT

Ya ninja'd your post moosifer. My forum fu was too weak
I tend to agree about the las/ plas razors. I dunno what you really gain by paying the extra points and also outflanking tbh.
With bikes being as cheap as they are in this codex I am surprised at all the tacticals being added to khan lists.

Las/plas on the vehicles is IMO the only way to run them other than heavy bolters. None of the other options provides flexibility.
At 75 points, I am getting a twin-linked plasma gun and a las cannon... pop the 105 for 5-man with 180 points you have a vehicle and a mobile 5-man squad. Hmmm build a 10-man tactical same setup... PW, plasma, las. 205 and they don't have a ride.
The onlything missing is a flamer weapon in the 5-man squad and it will be fine.
With most lists, I find 2 or 3 really good AT units. I am dropping 7 Las-plas that, unlike a las/plas tactical are mobile. I agree that razorbacks are not that strong but what are we talking about for enemy AT. Sure they will light up a razorback. If I get on top of them they will light me up for sure but I am hoping to knock them down to size at range. Also have the heavy bolter line to cut it down to size so that helps too.
As many of you have pointed out, it is kind of throwing away khan without bikes and the firepower of the razorbacks with outflanking.
Collectively, you have convinced me that khan is not right for this force. So let me modify my list and will repost it.

HQ Captain Relic Blade, Artificer Armor, Digital Weapons 140
5 Cmd: Apothecary, Standard w PW, Champion, 2 PW in Razorback Las/Plas 265
HQ Librarian 100
1 x Elite 5 Sternguard: 3xcombimelta 2x combiflamer Sgt w PW Razorback Las/Plas 240
4x Troop 5 Marines: Sgt w PW in Razorback Las/Plas 180 ea
3 xFast Attack 2 Landspeeders w 2 Hvy Bolters 120 ea
2x Predator AC, HB sponsons 85 ea
1995 pts
6 x Las/TL Plasma Razorbacks
2 x Autocannons
16 x Hvy Bolters.
With this list I present no infantry targets on board, everything is mounted up. Lost khan and the two devastator squads for
a librarian and a Sternguard squad and two predators.
Losing Khan with outflank and furious charge probably improves the firepower but gaining a sternguard squad and libarian probably more than make up for it.
