Hello all this is my first post in Dakka. I've been a long time reader but never really felt the need to post. Basicly I've been a 40k player for a few years now. (Been playing a foot slogging space marine list). Now I have friends who are playing fantasy and I decided I would like to join them. I love the look of a lot of infantry vs big bulky things. Also I like to run causal/fun and theme lists more then competitive ones

So I'm trying to decide on an army to play. I'm down to 3 armies to pick from.

Vampire Counts - I'm a huge zombie nut and I love the corpse cart model. If I were to play this army it would revolve and zombies and ghouls.
Dislike - the skeleton steed, skeleton warriors, and the bats, and price on some of the rare models

Beast of Chaos - I like their base infantry the Gors and Ungors. (as of right now though I don't have their codex going to get it this saturday so I don't know a whole lot about this army I just really like their models)
Dislike - mainly the price on specials and rares. I prefer plastic models also and besides the core units looks like most of this stuff in metal. Not fun to convert for me.

Lizardmen - I like the skinks alot and I think an entire skink list would look really cool. well atleast to me.
Dislike - most of the models that aren't skinks( i do like the kroxigor) and I hear that they have a new codex coming out sometime next year. I'd hate to have to repurchase alot of models so I can play in a tourny if i decide to

I'm really just looking for that one push into the right direction, and like I said earlier not looking for competitive play just something to play with friends but might eventually go to competitive play.

Thanks in advance

Beasts of Chaos are something you should really try as a 2nd or 3rd army, they take real skill to use well and unless you like losing a heap of games initially they probably aren't for you.

Lizzies- I play them and they are great fun, very well balanced army, however wait for the new army book in a few moonths.

VCs are probably only topped by daemons for cheese levels. I played VCs the last 3 years - got a bit bored of them towards the ned, but I do like variety...

VC can be overtly powerful with certain combos. If you go with the whole zombie & Corpse Cart theme, i would say it would be a good and balanced list.

They are current;y in dire need of a new army book. I would wait.

Currently Competitive Play is busted. Unless you are running a Daemons of Chaos Army, Cheesed Out Vampire Counts or Dark Elves you odds of doing well are slim to none. High Elves and Empire can do well in the hands of a good general.
