Yes yes I know that I had just posted about my harlequins but I am in my 4th hour of class with 2 more to go, so I am posting pictures.

So I had an old metal Wraithlord I got for cheap cheap. I hate how the model looks because you can really only pose it so it looks like it is taking a dump.

That being said it sat around in a box for awhile until I got bored of doing Home Work on night and took my friends box of nid bits.

The legs are Carnifex legs, the chest and back are Fex plates. The entire project so far has cost me nearly nothing so here it is.

I have done some more work on it but I don't have any photos yet. Ill try and get them up in the next few days.

What do you guys think so far?

Here are some more with a bit more done.

The extra arms are Wraithlord arms snipped at the hands with a starcannon and a scatterlaser from a weaponsplatform snipped and added.
I cut down the legs and added wraithlord feet. His knees are bent that way so I can pose him up on the flat rock so it looks like he is leaping from it.

Here it is based, I stuck him on a base just for photos he will be on a different ACTION base.

Here is the base.

Nice, but I think the paint job will make or break the idea in the end...

Good luck!

You are right, I am at a stopping point right now because I cannot for the life of me decide how I want to paint him.

But like I said it is made totally out of trash bits so it won't be a horrible loss.

Any suggestion on painting techniques?

All my tanks are spray and I am not sure if I want to spray this guy.

would look great in a dark eldar army

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

you could go with Black and Crimson as the base color and dry brush Cream on him.

hmmm I like it. Although the color scheme of my army is the swedish flag hah. I am thinking of doing him a Gloss dark blue and keeping him really dark.

Throw in some small yellow streaks. But I may just do your idea and keep him as a project and out of any army play.

Wraithlords are crewed by dead Aspect Warriors or Exarchs from what I remember. I seem to recall someone making the argument long ago that that entitled them to use legacy shrine (read Aspect Warrior) colors. So you could paint him up like a Dark Reaper or something and be ok with it.

Yeah, very 'niddy, as is it looks like a close combat fex with a wraithlord head, but it would look nice in a Dark Eldar themed army.

If you go whole hog with it, converting your guardians, aspects, bikes, etc. with DE and niddy bits then it would look outstanding. Keep it up!

I have a few of the old 'lords and greatly dislike the static pose. There are some poses besides the deep crouch that work nicely, but it does take some more intensive converting. I'm working on a scorpion exarch wraithlord at the moment, my WIP blog is here.

Ya the nid parts do stand out a bit but they are at this point just the legs and chest. I built it out of completely spare parts sitting around in a box so it is what it is.

I am planning on adding a cloth Loin cloth attached with a small chain I have laying around as to give him more of an eldar look.

Any other suggestions on random eldar crap that might work for add ons?

nice idea. but im really not buying it at all. its too mudererous for craftworld eldar and maybe a bit too organic for wraithbone!

i would paint it iyanden ^^

Too murderous for craftworld eldar? pish posh.

I actually just got done reading one of 2 books they have on eldar and it was about craft wars, followed by house wars, followed by the eldar falling into a murderous orgy that had to be stopped by the aspect exarchs cleansing the entire world. (spoiler)

Its not going to be Iyanden, its going to be Sweyaden.

heh

Well, it is def. different. Very cool looking, but it looks like a 1/2 'nid 1/2 dark eldar found some poor eldar woman and had his way with her so far. I would really like to see it painted before I comment on it.

When my friends saw it for the first time they said... "WTF that thing is ridiculous and borderline insane." That is the exact reaction I was going for.

When exams are over I think I will spend my fall break painting it so Ill be sure to post the finished product on base and all.

heh Didn't really make it to win any awards, just thought people would get a kick out of it.

Thanks for taking a look either way though!

i like the effort and the idea, but it simply doesnt fit in with an eldar army or with a nid army....so for me it fails as a game piece. but as a display piece i think its ok. will live and die by the paint job though...no pressure

keep up the good work, imagination is the key to enjoying this game, never let it be stunted

Ok Ill say it again. BOX OF BITS SHAKEN TOGETHER. err sorry capslock.... I know it doesn't look "eldary" or nidish or darkeldary... I put it together out of random gak and posted it because I thought people might get a kick out of it.

Im sorry I should have put a giant JUST FOR FUN sticker on this post.... but I am assuming that KingCracker and some others didn't read the post they just looked at the pictures.

So if people are even reading please stop mentioning its not eldary or whatever, its bits glued together to see if I could make something fun and cool.

Now Thr33....you have to remember we are gamers. There are plenty of us who CAN'T read, but just look at the inter-web for the pretty pictures....and the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup that is your Wraithlord is confusing and confounding to some of us...

Sadly even your re-explination here at the end will be lost on those that just want to complain.

Personally, I can't wait to see that bad boy painted.

the only thing I would suggest is that you smooth some of the transition between GS and the carapace a little, it might be done in the white pics, but they are too blurry for me to tell.

Keep it up, scrap mashing figures if FUN!!!

Seriously, despite the negativity and despite the oddness of the conversion, it is well done. Kudos to you for your imagination, too. I NEVER would have thought to combine 'Nid parts with Eldar parts. Whatever role it will play on the table, it is quite unique and a very interesting model.
