Disgusting Nurgling
|
After researching the forum and much thought, here is my new 1500 pt daemon list. I plan to buy this army, so please let me know if any adjustments need to be made. I have the soul grinder in the list because the model is awesome and it can divert attention away from my MCs. It also may cause some kills along the way. Any weaknesses that this list has or any suggestions please let me know!

The only thing I can think of to bolster the plaguebearer squads is to drop the unholy might off the BT and noxious touch of the DPs. Or I can make the bloodletters 8 each, making all my troop squads 8 per unit. What should I do? Also deviant if I can somehow put in the blessing of the blood god the BT I will.

Newsun is right on that. Remember that Deamons can only enter play via Deep Strike. If they come before your Icons die, they don't need wings at all. That way you'll be able to spend those 120 points or so on something you need more.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I will work on the list and post it in a little bit. Are you sure i don't need wings on the DPs? Should I just make my plaguebearers 10 per unit and 10 bloodletters per unit? Because I have an alternate list that has that, except it has one less DP and nurglings. I really like the idea of having 4 monstrous creatures, 3 of which are flying so they can be where I want them to. I could just drop wings from 1 DP and get 4 more plague bearers, which would make them 9 per unit. Also, how reliable are bloodcrushers? They seem to be close combat monsters, however they seem like they can be taken out quite easily if fielded in a unit of less than 3.

I find it that unless you take 6+ Blood Crushers they're pretty vulnerable. Yeah, the idea of 4 MCs in 1 army is quite cool, but IMO unfluffy and risky tactics-wise. But if you really want a "Deamonzilla" army, then I'd say drop some Bloodletters and get sum BloodCrushers/another prince, take the wings away and bulk up on PBs...and there. And I have to admit, that would be a fun army to play with. Especially versus my DG...imagine that - 5 MC + Uber Tough Deamons VS an elite army with 32/40 models (depends if I took Dreads or Termis)!!!

Ok here is my new list. I dropped the wings off one DP, and made the other a Khorne one with unholy might to still have a mobile tank busting MC. The DPs also now have iron hide. I now have 5 blood crushers, and a more stable supply of plague bearers. I think overall this list may be stronger, but it has less tank busting capabilities, and less MCs. I regret not having a BT in there, because I always wanted an excuse to buy the model, but it may not be worth it. I still haven't bought the whole army, but the feed back on this list will heavily influence my choices. I already have the GUO, plaguebearers, and a DP so no matter what they will have to make the list. Anyways let me know what you think of the new list, any suggestions would be great.

well DP are MC so roll 1 extra die for pen so the +1S is most effective for ID I thinks, though a lil bit helpful for pen rolls too.
I might like Bloodletters a lil fuller, though I am bet that is fine at nine.
Crushers could get an icon instead of one of the PBs since PB will likely be sitting back on objective.
List is looking like a scary assault to be faced with. Just keep in mind your speed and lack of shooting when deepstriking and maneuvering and I think it will be fun.

I might drop Instrument of Chaos from the GUO and Unholy Strength from the DP might give you 1 or 2 more troops other than that looks good as that is left is to play test

Good point extrenm54, it would make more sense. My only issue is, I still want to put unholy might on 1 flying DP, to replace the BT as a mobile tank busta. Strength 6 +2D6 seems much better than Strength 5 +2D6. Perhaps I could just not get noxious and get unholy might instead. Newsun good idea putting 1 icon on the bloodcrushers, makes more sense. Deviant your right about taking instrument off the GUO, I just had it there because I had some spare points. I think I may just make both DPs nurgle again, I guess no one thinks the extra attack from khorne is that valuable. I am always open for more suggestions so please keep them coming. Also is the rending ability that blood crushers can take really worth getting? I know glancing hits are not as good as it use to be, but I was thinking about adding the ability just in case.

T6 really dose make a difference, could look at it this way they may get one less attack but they will live long enough to attack more then once. As for rending I see it as a nice bonus but, not to good unless you really have numbers ... wait can bloodcrushers take rending ?

Yeah blood crushers can take rending, because of fury of khorne for 10 points. I think nurgle DP may make more sense, but i guess I will have to play test.

I would only take the rending if you need more antitank badly. Unless there is a crazy amount of mech list you should be OK with out it.

After actually reading about the blue scribes, I decided I may put them into this list. I am thinking about dropping a DP, rearranging some points and putting in 3 flamers and the blue scribes. The blue scribes could be used for pavane on my khorne and nurgle units, in particular my blood crushers and GUO. Now should I take 2 units of 3 flamers, or 1 unit of flamers with the scribes joining it? I really like the scribes versatility. If anyone has any experience with the blue scribes, let me know I want to hear how effective they are. I think the flamers will add some nice shooting to this army, and I have always wanted to use them but I got all MC crazy when I first made this list.

scribes look ok and they can jump which is nice, though if you are using them for pavane, get the masque, it's her specialty and she can do it 3x and has a better save
scribes might, might be able to 2x pavane, their power is iffy, though. Then again their other powers are good as well.
I have though about running them with a group of flamers and just have them BoC then if they don't get BoC for 2nd shot, Boon
I will be testing scribes out soon though. I have not actually used them, just been thinking on them lately.

You do have a good point about the masque, but she is not a IC. She is a solo model, and can get killed rather easily. Perhaps she can just chill behind a unit of nurglings for cover, and use pavane over them. I like the scribes potential a lot better, not to mention the conversion process I would have to do. The scribes can at least be in a unit of flamers, and have other spells at their disposal. When you play test the blue scribes please let me know how they perform, I am eager to get more info on them. It will be a while before I am able to play test myself.

I would just need something modeled for chaos spawn to use Boon.
