Hello evryone,

I've been thinking about starting warhammer fantasy for a long time now, and i think i want to make a orc and goblin army, i've recently started painting some black orcs, and just got the warhammer online collectors edition mini wich i cant wait to start painting on. I used to have an O&G army a long time ago but i always lost..... something tells me night goblins dont like me as they kept killing my own troops. once a game went so fast because my fanatics decided to kill my boar unit and general in turn 1... almost whole army fled off the table, and it usualy went pretty much the same only took a few turns longer before i was gone. I didnt have much experience then though, i still dont but i have played a few games with my friends skaven and chaos and i got abit of 40k experience, so im hoping ill be abit better this time.

Anyways i've put a couple of army lists together and most look almost the same, but i like this one most so far, but im sure it can be better.
please give me some advice, if you see anythingi should fix let me know.

I've got an orc army, and my favourite unit is x24 savage orcs with additional choppa (6 wide). The main advantage with the new Orc book is that choppas give you +1 str in 1st rnd even if you have two. Without a hero that savage orc unit kicks out 19 str4 attacks in 1st round (x19 str5 if big uns)
Black orcs are ok, but i've had more success with savage orcs. You've just to watch out for an opponent taking advantage of your frenzy.
Wolf riders are good, but you have got alot of fast cavalry units there. Up to you with your own style, but i'd take 3 or 4 max fast cav units for 2,000.
Rock lobber yes, spear chukkas yes. I notice you've not got any bosses, always take a Boss for an orc unit (they are the only army that has champions with +1str,A and WS)
I wouldn't take two units of Black Orcs for a 2,000 pnt army. Those units cost you 317 pnts, before you add in your general. If you play against a shooty army like dwarfs they'll wipe you out. My advice is take orc boyz with additional choppas and put the general in that unit. They might fail animosity, but unless you're very unlucky you should be ok. Always try to have units that are 6 wide with orc boyz (i have a min. of 30 per unit, which is still only 240 for add. chop unit with full cmd)

I'm verry unlucky!
But thanks for the reply since i havent got 40 black orcs yet ill try and see how my list would look with lots of boys ^^
I want to stay away from savage boys since i cant realy do the bravehearth tatoo's

Ill try some stuff in army builder tommorow, since im kind of tired right now.

By the way if i lose a black orc unit i make another space in special options, would it be wise to get another lobber?

The tattoos aren't that bad. What you do is paint an orc with normal skin, then paint your tattoo shape with black (whatever shape you want, triangle, zigzag, teeth etc) Then paint the colour you want your tattoo to be over the black. I avoided blue, because it has a similar tone to green.
Yes rock lobbers are good, or maybe an orc boar chariot

I've made a couple of changes to the list, would you think this is going to do better? i removed one of the black orc units, the big'uns and 10 wolf riders. I've added 2 regiments of 30 Orc Boyz with full command, a regiment of night goblins and a squig herd. also with some left over points i've added sword of might and amulet of protection to my hero's.

Yeah i think that's loads better. Problem is it's difficult giving out advice because it depends on the style that suits you best.
I've used a squig herd once against chaos (because they have no missiles, not including magic missles) and it wrecked half his army. You're best to keep casting Hand of Gork on them, so the squigs move away from your own troops.

I think putting bosses and big bosses on boars is absolutely crucial, even if they are in a unit of infantry. extra saves and extra attacks go a long way.

Also, a BSB is always useful.

That's a good idea, i didn't know you could put a mounted character in an infantry unit.

Can you put a Black Orc Hero in a unit of goblins? (reason i ask is they have different size bases, so they don't quite fit)

I had no idea either that was possible... but i dont think the extra safe is realy needed.
Since the boyz will probably take the hits first anyways right?

Yes unless your opponent has some way of picking out a character (eg. those big rifles in empire, or a spell, orcs can do it with eadbutt)

horn of urgok is never gunna get off if its the only magic item you have...

and around the people i play with, if the character can fit into the unit without overlapping bases or leaving gaps between, you can do it...

all those blorc characters are a waste of points IMO,
and your general needs to be on a boar...

and,
a night gob unit with no fanatics?

Yes, you're right about that horn of urgok. I find it works well with the bagpipes of doom.
It's interesting to hear other peoples preferences. I always use Black Orc characters as opposed to regular orcs. Black Orcs have +1 WS, they're the only orcs that can wear heavy armour, your axes are for free, and quell animostity is good as long as you have at least 30 orcs in the unit.

I'll get strait to the point. Give the Black Orc Warboss a boar for a 1+ Save.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Don't forget about the night goblin path. Goblin hero, squigs, fanatics, a rock lobber, and a giant, is a 500 point block. With black orc leadership they're slightly more reliable.

Of course, you can just forget about the gobbo hero... and it's 440ish
