How much Dispel dice do people usually have in 1000 points? I have this idea that it is nearly essential to have at least 2 Wizards, granting 4 Dispel Dice. I always try to make at least one, if not both, Level 2 Wizards. This means that I usually don't take a Battle Standard Bearer, although for my Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings I don't think I'll need one. My main point is, I take two Wizards, how many do other people take in 1000 points?

I'm the same as you, normally 2 wizards for 1,000. Someone told me a while ago always upgrade the level of your wizards, which i've done ever since.

Gee at 1000 points if I was playing VC I'd have 3, if anything else, just 1 level 1 with a dispel cscroll. At 1000 points its just not worth piling lots of points into magic.

Back when I ran my Skaven I ran 1, my Warlock Engineer. I gave him a dispel scroll and went from there.

you will very rarly see more than two in 1,000 pts. and if you are mainly taking them for dispel purposes, don't bother upgrading them as this adds nothing. sometimes with my high elves I took three mages, but that was mainly to combat specific opponants. usually two is good, especially if you take dispel scrolls

With Dwarfs, the army special rule is inflated at 1000 points, so I've never taken a runesmith. That being said, the 4 dd I *do* have has never really been needed. I'd say in most cases, 2 is overkill if you're just dispelling.

What I like about the smaller games is you actually see a single level 2 (or even level 1!) sometimes get a spell off. Just encouraging to see once in a while.

Personally, I take a level 1 and a level 2 wizard in my empire list, but with Dark Elves, I only take a level 2 sorcerer.
Magic isn't as used in smaller games (though it can hurt if you're unprepared), and as most people already said, you should have a dispel scroll handy.
