If your commander is on a bike you can take Bikes as Troop choices. Is this against your normal allotment of 6 troops or do the Bike squads you buy from Fast Assault Count as a Troop choice?

They take up a Troops slot on the force org chart, one of your six.

I would also say they can take and hold objectives etc.

Yep, they go into a Troops Force Org slot and become a 'scoring' unit, as they are a non-vehicle Troop unit.

Also, I believe (though I may be wrong) that they have to be at least 5 strong.

That is correct. I further think that the Attack Bike can be one of the 5 models.

Actually, iirc, it is 2 of the 5 models....
|
Please note - terms like 'always/never' are carried with the basic understanding that there are exceptions to the rule, and therefore are used to mean generally...

I know it is 2 of 10 models for combat squadding, but I didn't think there was any mention for just plain old deployment.

The attack bike only counts as 2 models for combat-squading. They do not count as 2 models for the 5 model minimum required to make a unit a troop choice under the commander-on-a-bike/Khan ability.

Okay thanks and now somehow reduce the cost $$$$ of space marine bikes. Although, I've heard you can buy the ravenwing box set and get a good deal on bikes.

hmm so my bike army that is 26 bikes, 2 characters on bikes, 5 scout bikes and 8 attack bikes is almost the equivalent of my monthly coffee budget.
stupid starbucks with their crack flavored coffee... like I am gonna give that up for plastic models...
