Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Nice paintjob, like to see the old school character minis, they had - character.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

London.

That's a blast from the past. Always weird (and wonderful) seeing old models getting TLC.

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

Wow, that's the first time I've seen warhammer quest minis painted. Great work. Takes me back to days of magic golf-balls, a crazed dwarf with an albino snotling living in his beard and an ogre who annoyed the rest of the party by constantly bashing the dungeon walls with his club and bellowing "Here monster monster monster! Here monster monster monster!" That game was addictive.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

It's great seeing this old stuff, and painted quite well to boot. Hopefully the spiders and the rest of the undesirables come next.

Sweet. This makes me want to try and get ahold of that old box set and do the same. Why does GW not make stuff like this anymore....

Excellent work on those mate! Excellent! I have often thought that those types of figs would be the best ones to see painted by the "Pros" or a painting challenge. They pose a problem for me to paint, and I consider my self a decent painter. With all the round edges and flat look the intimdate the hell out of me. But you Sir have made them look very, very good.

I too picked up all those boxes when the re -released them. "toybox" range is what GW was calling them. Crazy little attempt at the time to try to get them in to mass market stores like WalMart. It never wnet any where though.

Cry Havoc and let slip the dogs of war!

Great so far...

2 questons:

How did you do the heavy rust on the skaven swords? (I see the metal is painted on last but what colours for the rusty bits)

What paint/wash did you use to get the oxidation effect on the shields?

1. Base coat of a 50:50 mix of snakebite leather + blazing orange. Shade with devlan mud. Paint on blazing orange stippling, then the metal chips.

2. Paint brazen brass. Then mix 50:50 Hawk Torquise + Scaly green and a tonne of water and wash liberally all over, use your finger to wipe the wash off the top. ONce dry shade with devlan mud, once that's dry use a mix of 75% hawk torquise with 25% scaly green and a small amount of water and run it sparingly into nooks and crannies.

Cheers, metals are always worthy of that little bit extra work. They can make or break a piece. Get it right and it enhances the illusion, get it wrong and it shatters the realism.

Bravo. Job well done. A great standard across the board.

I've never played the game, but I'd be more than happy to give it a go if these were what the models looked like ^_^.
