I understand if you get vehicle explodes those inside get a S3 attack, but if you just get vehicle destroyed? Can they just get out?

Basically, yes (barring vehicle being surrounded). And it's ST 4 unless the vehicle is open-topped.

If I'm not mistaken you also still have to pass a pinning test. Ya, pg 67.
