Was thinking about what one could do for a Tau titan class vehicle. As they do a lot of walking vehicles, and IMHO a hovering sized titan would not work well, I came up with this idea for a conversion.

So... it's a AT-TauT?

And I disagree in regards to the hovering Titan class vehicle, it's called a Manta.

Tau are unlikely to build anything "titan" classed anytime soon. They cover that size catagory with superheavy aircraft. Baracuda vs Warhound, Tigershark vs Reaver, Manta vs Warlord. The next step in evolution towards "tau titans" is going to be Battlesuits with a large number of weapons system which are classed as monstrous creatures, IMHO.

Many a Sentinel pilot has hesitated to call his vehicle a walking coffin after battling beside a Dreadnought.

True, the Manta is kinda a flying titan. But (fluff wise) they can't always have air superiority, so I was thinking a ground based one. But that is just my own opinion.

And sorry about not getting a pic to show, not sure what I'm doing wrong, never tried to put one on a forum before.

It's because it's a bitmap, needs to be a .jpg or .gif to display properly (maybe .png).

And like I said, they're much more likely to just go for a slightly upsized Broadside for ground based anti-titan work, than an actual Titan. The entire tau army is based around a rapid strike doctrine, something that a Titan is not.

yeah i think the tau would work out how to counter a titan, (big ass lasers) rather than try to make them for them selfs. fluff wise you would only ever delpoy titans in the largest of engagements, like the democules campain where imperial titans where almost foder for the tau hit and run tactics. read the tau codex for snipits the mantas are the tau titans.

that being said a big ass robot would be awsome! you could maybe convert a gundam wing modle into a sick tau titan.

I think Tau would go for something more "Knight Class" sized since they would be more mobile. Zip around the larger more clumsy things and just pick them apart.

Tau should really go for the Köning Monster. Especially considering how its a transport shuttle that turns into that destroid monster stjohn70 linked and also has a more battlesuit like robot mode. and everyone knows battlesuits are just valkyries.

I've got a 1/72 scale Macross VF-1 Battroid kit I am reserving for a Tau Titan.

It's much smaller than a proper Titan and would be faster and more manoeuvrable.

I reckon that's how Tau would make their Titans, if they built them.

It's one of these.

Scale is actually 1/100 according to the box art.

Since when have the Tau gotten a Titan?

When convention and science offer us no answers, might we not finally turn to the fantastic as a plausibility?

Since someone built them one. Think outside the box... just becuase GW don't have (read, can't be arsed to make) a model for something yet, doesn't mean it doesn't exist way up there in the 41st millenium...

fixed your code

i saw that exact kit at my FLGS today... o.O

I've looked into converting gundam models into titans but their to damn small. i had an RX-79 from the 08th ms team serious, along with the custom Gouf that he fought and both of them don't even clear a titans shoulder and look way to weak.

what I want to see is something like the carrier from starcraft, a big ship (but not manta sized) that releases flying drones to fight for it. how tau is that?

How tall in inches do you want the titan to be?

When you end up making it you should arm it with some kind of EMP missile to combat other titans and super heavies. That seems very Tau.

You might try Armored Core models, they are around 6 inches tall so about knight sized I think

The bit stuck on the side of England. Wales isn't it.

I can't see the tau having a walker , when all there tanks are skimmers and they are into lots of flyers for support*. But how about a super heavy tank check this link.... http://bootae.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=8403

I dislike the AT-AT with a Tau paint job.

The big lumbering beasts are the antithesis of Tau the battle ethos (as has been stated).

As also stated, I doubt the Tau would build a Titan sized walker. A 'Knight' class perhaps, and I always pictured it midway between Eldar and Imperial as far as speed/armor goes. Its got to be quick, but tougher then an Eldar titan.

It would have to have a little more staying power with their lack of holo-fields and such. They would have the agile rule and some kind of jump ability. Weapons on the other hand I'm not sure about. Possibly some long barreled fusion guns and other such anti-armor weaponry.

if I didn't know what that was but it would be cool conversion.

I think the at-tauT might be cool as a base, however, only os a base.

I think something that walked around and dropped off broadsides and other crisis suits would be awsome.

A Tau titan should be able to transform into a flyer.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

I don't know if I like the idea of transformers in 40k.

Tau are anime enough, without a Macross Titan added in

well, gundam figure sales are up

and i think the idea of a tau titan is great.
but it would be smaller and more mobile than things such as warhounds, but would have to have some form of a jumped up ion cannon or rail gun.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.
